Hi Student Org Leaders.

Please forward this to your membership. We are looking to pay 40 students to work Commencement this year (May 28th). First come, first served. Details below. Thanks in advance for sending this far and wide.

Commencement Information Guides are paid positions for SJSU students. Your role is directing students and families in and around Spartan Stadium on Commencement day. We will be hiring up to 40 students to fill these roles. You will receive a $65 check after commencement for your time. For those interested in making a bit more money if you stay for clean up you will make an additional $20, this is limited to 10 students and is therefore first come, first served. All checks are processed through payroll so US Citizenship is required, also there are no taxes deducted from the check at the time of disbursement - you will receive checks for the full amount of $65 or $85. By signing up you are committing to being on time and present the entire time required day of the event and for a pre-event meeting, no exceptions. Please do not sign up unless you are certain you will be available that day, only illness will be a valid excuse.

Commitment/Position Details:
  • Friday, May 27: 4pm - 5pm -- Pre-Commencement Meeting (details of the event and paperwork for payroll) Location: Student Involvement, 140 Clark Hall
  • Saturday, May 28: 7:30am - 12pm -- Commencement Day work hours, Location: Spartan Stadium (Breakfast and T-shirts provided), Pay: $65
  • Saturday, May 28: 12pm - 2pm -- Commencement Breakdown Assistants (first 10 students to request, entails picking up and stacking chairs in the field after the event) - Pay: $20 additional (Total: $85)

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a meaningful day for many of your Spartan peers. Students that have participated in the past have really enjoyed this experience and it involves little more than having a great attitude, a willingness to be helpful, and handing out programs. You will have assigned stations so this won't involve a lot of walking around or heavy lifting and we should be able to rotate folks in and out to provide breaks.

If you have any questions or need any further info please contact me directly. I am coordinating all of the student guides and will assist you throughout the process.

To sign up to commit to this position please fill out this form: Commencement Guide Commitment Form
