Subject: [fac-cs-group] IT job opportunity at the South Pole...
To: fac-cs...@sjsu.edu

Colleagues,

A friend of mine just emailed me less than an hour ago from Antarctica. Apparently there's a job opportunity for an IT person. Thought I'd forward this on to you all in case any of your graduates
are interested in this work. Applicants must be US citizens. Sorry, telecommuting is not allowed.

"Regarding the SA job at Pole, they require a US citizen.  Here is the lowdown from the job description.  It doesn't get too into the server but for sure, strong server skills are needed.  Take a look..."

Hi Dan, Vicki, and Michael.

As you may know, I have friends all over the world! A long-time friend of mine just wrote me minutes ago about a new job opportunity in the Information Technology department at the South Pole! I immediately thought of SJSU students who recently graduated!

The job normally runs from Nov 1, 2016 to Nov 1, 2017. It's a one year contract job. Interested parties would work for the United State Federal Government! If that's too long of a gig, they will take someone who wants to work from Nov 2016-Feb 2017.

If you know of any interested students, please forward them to me. I'll get them in contact with my contact at the South Pole.

No, I've not lost my mind. This is a very real gig. My friend Dave Benson has been working there for years on end. He does one-year gigs then travels / lives in warm climates around the world on holiday. What a life.

Here's a view from South Pole. One of many pictures I receive from my friend as he works there.
