Hello again Dr. Pearce. This is Kevin Buchanan a previous student of yours and fellow Santa Cruz resident.
We spoke a few months back about possible internships for our fledgling co. We've decided to start looking
for candidates and will find a way to pay them if they can help the project.
What we're doing: a new multi-capability network sensor (initially) that may eventually become an inline
device. Based on open source we're combining IDS and (Anomaly Detector) AD capabilities as well as
some special sauce to build a new type of security device.
We're almost alpha ready and have several institutions willing to test the product: Netflix, Kaiser Permanente,
NREL, and a few other smaller cos.
What we're looking for:
1) Strong research and summary skills.
2) Some experience developing in a Linux environment with C/C++, Python, and Lua.
3) A strong statistical background.
4) Any experience w/ Suricata, Snort, Bro, Spark.ml, or Neo4j (graph DB) would be helpful.
5) VM and networking experience.
6) White hat hacking ability and/or honeypot experience is a plus.
We have a detailed plan and well defined tasks for interns to contribute and learn from a PhD in the
field and my ~20 years experience at Cisco PIX/ASA. Our CEO and co-founder is an MBA from Wharton
and friend for many years.
If you have any questions or interested candidates please contact me at this email or by cell
831-239-7387.
We are very flexible and I can provide a place for them to work in Scruz or they can work remotely. We have
enough resources for multiple developers.
Thanks for your time. Hope to hear from you soon.
