Hi, Sheila.
This is "regular" business.
One of my/CoSS's prospective donors, Barb Zenz (Poli Sci), has
purchased a table at the upcoming Momentum for Mental Health Luncheon
on May 7th at the Marriott. and she would like to host five people from
SJSU at her table. She has asked me if some students (and perhaps a
faculty member or you, the chair) of the Psychology Department would be
those guests. She is thinking that psychology students would be
interested in what this group is doing.
Might you and your faculty be able to come up with four or five people
to attend, hosted by Barb? Perhaps four students and a faculty member
or you? Or if you can come up with only four people in total, I might
be able to serve as the fifth person.
Barb and her firm, the Stephenz Group (advertising and P.R), are
supporters of this organization, and last year the firm won the
corporate "Shining Stars" award. On that occasion, she invited me and
my colleague who fundraises for the College of Humanities and the Arts
to be guests at their table. (The co-founder of Barb's firm is an SJSU
design program alumna named Stephanie Paulson, who was also at last
year's luncheon.) Since then, Barb has agreed to design some materials
for the College pro bono and to be a member of the College's volunteer
campaign committee. H&A is also considering asking Stephanie
Paulson to join their campaign committee.
Based on last year's experience, I predict that this luncheon will have
a fund raising component, in that they will ask people to contribute
whatever they can to the organization. However, I did not contribute
last year, and I'm sure that students would not be expected to donate
unless they are in the position to do so.
Please let me know if you think you can drum up four or five people to
attend. Details are in the attached file.
Thanks, as always, for your help in cultivating potential donors (even
if, as in this case, a future gift may not directly benefit your
department)
