My former supervisor from Jean Weingarten Peninsula Oral School for
the Deaf is running a summer camp at Stanford, and looking for
volunteers. Please see below for details, and download the file
(posted under the section "Files"), entitled "Volunteer Schedule" for
specific dates and times:
--------

This is our second year at Stanford to host the "Listen to Me!" Summer
Institute, a one week summer program designed for children, families,
and professionals dealing with cochlear implants. Our target
population is families who live in areas that do not have access to
good intervention services, so that we can educate and empower them to
demand the best for these kids that have so much potential. Many of
our families have CCS and are Spanish-speaking. Feel free to check
out the short video about last year's program:

We are excited to host our program again this year, but we are in need
of volunteers. Attached you will find a schedule of the times and
days we will need volunteers. You will see at the top a breakdown of
different positions that are available. Some of you may want to do
more than one position, and that would be great!

Here's a brief description of each position:
Set up/ moving: moving furniture around to set up the house,
classrooms, and therapy rooms to accommodate our families.
Registration/ Greeter: help with check-in for professional attendees
and families, directing them where to go, giving them packets, having
them sign in. (Spanish speakers would be great)
Sibling Camp: assist with supervising the children (normal hearing
siblings of the kids with cochlear implants, ages 2 to 12), playing
games, doing crafts, preparing materials as the Sibling Camp
Coordinators direct you.
Aid in Auditory/Oral class: assist in classroom with children with
cochlear implants as directed by their teacher. (Great for SLP
students!)
Take down/ moving: same as set up, but opposite. :)

We could also use some floaters to just be around and assist as needed
when things come up. Possibly to help everyone know where they are
supposed to go (there are three buildings the camp will be in, so
families and professionals will need guidance as to which building
they go to next).

Please let me know which type(s) of positions you are interested in,
as well as which days and times you are available to help. Email is
the best way to reach me: jco...@stanfordmed.org.

Thank you!
