Jesus addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. “Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity – greedy, dishonest, adulterous – or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’ But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.’ I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” – Luke 18:9-14

 

Tuesday, October 26 – Weekly Journey Rosary, Church, 8 PM

 

Please come join the Journey as we pray the Rosary together in the church. The Journey continues the tradition of true devotion to Mary our Blessed Mother by offering her a spiritual bouquet of roses; praying the Rosary with reverence and meditating on the life of her son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, as she always goes with us and intercedes for us all the time. After the Rosary, all are invited for fun conversation and coffee at Oak Creek Shopping Center. Sunday, October 31 – Trunk n’ Treat, Church, 10 AM

 

The SJN annual Trunk and Treat is upon us again! Please consider helping out by decorating the trunk of your car with a theme that is Saint, Biblical, or “family-friendly” Fall (i.e. foliage and pumpkins rather than spiders and witches). Arrive around 9:30 AM and park in the FFC lot (formerly REP). Bring candy, pencils, and other small goodies to help out (enough for 50 children). We welcome everyone to join us in this effort to minister to families in our parish.
