Weekly Events for August 2 – 8

If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory. Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry. – Colossians 3:1-5

Tuesday, August 3 – Potluck and Core Team Induction Ceremony, Parish Hall, 7 PM

This Tuesday’s Potluck is very special because we have the induction ceremony for the new core team. We need your prayers and support as Christ directs a “new batch” of faith-filled young adults to serve this wonderful young adult ministry. We hope you can join us for faith, fun, and fellowship in addition to this special event. For more details, please contact Annie Kaveti at annie....@gmail.com.

Friday, August 6 – Swingtown, Orange County Great Park, 8 PM

Join us for a fun-filled night of swing, swing, swing at the Great Park led by Dave Wells’ and Dave Eastley’s Swingtown band. These folks play anything from Glenn Miller to James Brown to the 80s hit song “Walking on Sunshine.” Parking is $10 but admission to the event is free and there is even a free dance lesson starting at 7:30 PM. For more details contact soc...@sjnjourney.net.

Saturday, August 7, The Passion of Joan of Arc, Grand Performances, 8 PM

The Passion of Joan of Arc (French: La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc) is a silent film produced in France in 1928. It is based on the trial records of Joan of Arc. The film was directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer and stars Renée Jeanne Falconetti. Antonin Artaud plays an important supporting role. It is widely regarded as a landmark of cinema, especially for its production, its direction and Falconetti's performance, which has been described as being among the best performances in film history. The film will be shown with a live score composed by George Sarah with a string quartet and a choir quartet featuring members of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. For more details visit www.grandperformances.org or contact spir...@sjnjourney.net.

Sunday, August 8 – Journey Sunday and Welcoming Table

Grab a friend, neighbor, or sibling and head over to SJN on this Journey Sunday. We'll need all hands on deck to help us “man” the welcome tables. PLUS, we'll be serving at the "Journey" Noon Mass as ushers and collectors; after Mass we'll head to a nearby restaurant for lunch. So come by anytime and stay as long as you can. For more details, please contact the Journey fundraising chair, Justin O’Donnell, at fundr...@sjnjourney.net for details and assignments.

Prayer Requests

If you have any prayer requests that you wish to be included in the weekly announcement, please send them to spir...@sjnjourney.net. Thank you.
