Hey Everyone,

I've been getting some queries on (Donuts) Math Club so I wanted to update everybody that has not heard the plan for this year.

Math Club will start on October 4th and will meet on Thursdays from 7:30 - 8:00am, same time as last year.

Once I have room confirmations from Mrs. Henderson and the teachers, I'll send a note out. This info will also be in the PTA newsletter so keep your eyes opened.

A huge thanks to the Dads below who offered to be grade coordinators this year. We couldn't do this without them.

1st Grade - Ben King
3rd Grade - Matt Townsend
4th Grade - Marshall May
5th Grade - Tom Turrichi

I will cover 2nd grade.

We still have the volunteer list from last year. If you were not in the rotation and would like to join us this year, please let one of us know.

Thanks!
Jason

Sadly we are no longer a part of the SWJ family. Would you mind pulling me off of the math club distribution list?

Thanks
Matt

Hi Jason!
We are back in Sweden so please remove me from the list as well. Good luck and take care!

Great to hear! As always, thanks to Jason for organizing. I look forward to another great year of math instruction.

In the spirit of collaboration, I hope we as a group can find a forum—maybe this email distribution list—where we can post and share age/grade-level appropriate ideas and activities that we can use in our math lessons. I know there are a lot of great activities that have been used that others would love to try. Please share!

Also, speaking for last year’s First Grade room, our student turn-out was consistently high (18-25 kids). Math Club parents, even if you don’t feel up to “teaching” a lesson, just being present to co-teach or to help out with small group work, classroom management or donut distribution is always helpful. Hope to see some new and returning Dads and Moms.

This is a great club. Thanks for keeping it going strong.

Hey Folks,

Here are the rooms for Math Club this year:
1st Rm 104 - Summerlin
2nd Rm 103 - Bazan
3rd Rm 203 - Davis
4th Rm 208 - Kelley
5th Portable 8 - Trapalis

Also below is the feedback from the teachers. We need to make an effort to leave rooms clean and as we found them. One idea is to ensure we only hand donuts out in the hall as kids leave the classroom. I'd be interested in any improvement ideas you all might have.

Thanks,
Jason

Mrs. Summerlin said that it was fine to use her classroom. If you could please pass along the message for the students not to move the desks nor chairs around.

Ms. Bazan was ok as long as her room is left clean.

Ms. Barnes has asked that her room not be used this year.

Mrs. Kelley was fine with using her room.

Mrs. Davis has offered to have 3rd grade math club meet in her class. She also has supplies for 3rd graders if they need anything.

Ms. Trapalis has agreed to let 5th grade meet in her portable (port. 8).

Please be aware that we are down to 2 custodians (one during the day and one at night) so it is important that the students clean up before they leave these classrooms.
