Help Needed for Bodies in the Building Program
Students will be moving into the portables on Monday and we could really use some extra help, next week especially.
I'm reaching out to all of you to lend a little extra support to the campus and participate in our Bodies in the Building volunteer program. We could really use some extra help in the hallways and at lunch right now. Also, we will be using the portables starting next week and a few extra adults supervising the students during passing periods would be terrific. Please, please take just ONE HOUR to support your school and students - shifts are available all day from 8 - 4. Even a half and hour would help :) You can use our JLLong.com website to select a shift using Sign Up Genius under the Volunteer tab OR, just come to the front office and check in with Ms. Ramirez.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer at the Math & Science Host Meet this SATURDAY at JL Long. If you have not already signed up to volunteer this weekend, please SIGN UP TODAY!! We are short in most areas still. We especially need 20 Proctors and 4 (AM) and 3 (PM) Concessions. We also need 4 Graders/Bubblers, 8 Runners, and 2 Greeters (just added). Forward this request to others you know that might help.

Mack Boost Fundraiser Starts this Week 
Mack Boost is kicking off their Fund Raising campaign this week and that there are some great deals for Valentine's Day. This on-line fundraiser benefits JL Long directly. The link is:

The JL Long Band will be selling chocolates from February the 2nd until the 16th. Please look for them before or after school to purchase "The World's Finest Chocolates" for only $1.
Yearbook News
There are only 50 yearbooks left to purchase and when those are gone, there are no more. Go to the Yearbook Page on the Long website for ordering information.

Want to see your child featured in the yearbook? Send school related pictures to the Yearbook Committee. Do you have pictures from field trips, sporting events, performances or competitions? If so, please forward them. Here are the instructions for uploading photos:

- They will need your project number: 327977
- Unless you set up a password they will not need one.
- You will be asked for your name and contact information.
- Select a prompt to browse to the photos you want to upload. That simple!

5. Put your name, grade and pod on the back of the design
Once your award-winning design is finished, turn it into the office. Deadline for entries is March 1st. Not only will your design be on t-shirts, posters, & brochures the winner will receive a $50 gift card to Target. 1st and 2nd runners-up will also receive gift cards.
YMCA 6th/7th Grade Spring Soccer Registration Extended to 2/15

6th -7th grade Soccer registration extended to 02/15/2013...first practice on 02/12/2013 at Randall Park! JL Long 6th-7th grade Spring Soccer registration time is here! League play is through the White Rock YMCA. T he team is open to anyone attending JL Long, of any skill level. T he team will consist of 14+- players and will be co-ed. Everyone will have a chance to play! T he team practices are T u...esday/ T hursday at Randall Park across from Woodrow Wilson High Schoool from 4:15 to 6:00 PM. Games are mostly played on Saturdays. Cost is $51 for Y members and $81 for non-Y members. Scholarships are available. Practices begin February 12th and our first game is March 2nd.
