This Wednesday evening, September 23, the City will conduct a
"workshop" to receive community input on plans for development of a
high-end retirement facility in the northwestern area of San Juan
Capistrano known as Rancho Capistrano. As if to distract voters and
taxpayers, this workshop is being framed by City leadership as an
opportunity to express support or opposition for for the CLC
retirement project itself. But this cynical political theater
designed to provide the Council with justification for an $85 million
reckless, immoral and unnecessary commitment of public funds. This is
not about "Open Space".
If you live, vote, pay taxes or operate a business in San Juan
Capistrano, you must take notice and express your position. The
financial future of our town is at stake. Come to the meeting or
contact your City Council by e-mail.
