Fly issue

Hey fellow farmers,

Is anybody else having issues with black flies? I am not sure what they are, as we haven't seen this issue before on Orcas. They are really bothering the sheep. We would love some ideas and solutions! Thanks.

PS we have lots of swallows, and bats, but they are not keeping up We prefer natural solutions.

We’ve used pine tar in the past to discourage flies on sheep.  Just dab a bit on around the dock or neck, depending on which end of the sheep is being bothered.

Sheep will move to a dusty area when tormented by flies, stamping and pawing to create a dust cloud.
