Dear Josephite,

As many of you may be aware, Mr. H. Shivaprakash (PT instructor and hockey coach) will be retiring at the end of the ongoing academic year after more than 30 years of service to the school and its students.

For many who have played sports at/for the school, he has been an inspiring and motivational presence.  He has had a unique and special way of getting the best out of young sportsmen, and his mentorship and the values he purveyed as a coach have been very valuable as keepsakes.

As a gesture of appreciation for his work, a few Old Boys have come together to manage the process of putting together a group gift for Mr. Shivaprakash through contributions from you all.  The gift will include a collection of memories (photographic and written) in the form of an album and a monetary "Sports Gift", both of which efforts you are encouraged to contribute to should you wish. 

Please note that Mr. Shivaprakash has not requested this, but he has been made aware of the intent to present him this gift.  This is not a formal OBA initiative, although we must add that the OBA has pledged full support to the effort and approved the use of its bank account for collection of the funds.

There are a couple of things you could contribute:

1) If you would like to contribute photos (hockey or cricket team, sports day, etc.) amd/or would like to write a short piece capturing your memories and experiences with Mr. Shivaprakash, please email your contribution to sjbhs...@gmail.com by March 31, 2015

2) If you would like to make a monetary contribution, and add to the fundraising effort, you can do this by either sending a cheque to India or the US (as detailed below) and obtain a tax receipt that you can use if you are resident in either of these countries.  The two options are:

In either case, please include a cover note with your name, PAN Card no (for Indian contributions only), phone number and address, stating that your contribution is towards "Mr. Shivaprakash's Gift" and also email sjbhs...@gmail.com stating the bank, cheque no and amount of your cheque and who you have sent it to.  Please do not send your cheque directly to the OBA office as this will prove challenging to track. We will send you an acknowledgement of your cheque as soon as possible upon its receipt.

This is an opportunity for us as a group to show appreciation for Mr. Shivaprakash's contribution and you can participate in whatever manner and to whatever extent possible.  We will hand over the gift along with a full list of contributors to Mr. Shivaprakash as the academic year comes to a close.

The official retirement date will be the day of superannuation.  The oba recognises their contribution on the year of retirement. 
The extension is the perogative of the school.  Like Mirium Angelo retired 2 years ago and still continues as the vice cop.

shikari has been offered the extension as there is no substitute for him currently,  if he had an option he would have quit.

I guess it's the same with UK as well.
