Hi all,

I collected a bit of data on Elephant's Trunk the past few nights and just ran an experiment in stacking w/ Siril on my Jetson in 7W mode.

Here are the results, after finishing up processing the stack in PixInsight:

I have 3 revisions on the AstroBin side, let me know if anyone has a preference, feedback for improvement is always welcomed!

I plan on getting some more data on this one, but wanted to put this up for now.

Thanks,
Ray

Ray, this turned out really nicely! I think I prefer version C.

That's a very nice image Ray!

I had more questions about the Jetson :) Is the stacking with Siril an experiment with a vision of doing some live-stacking EAA type work down the line?

Yeah, I'm thinking along that direction. Actually, I tried it last night. It worked pretty well, though I didn't get calibration working. Also, stacking 300s frames seems overkill, I need to try with shorter subs. The issue is currently stacking takes 34s or so per frame, so need to play with the registration & stacking options to see if I can speed that up. There's a "shift only registration" option that should help speed things up, since I'm not using an Alt-Az mount it should be fine. It saved the final (*non calibrated*) fit file, which I did a quick processing pass on below.

What device would you be using to view the live stacked images? If it's a laptop or something with decent compute, might be interesting to try a `watch -n1 rsync ...`  to copy new images over as they're available and live stack on the beefier compute?

Yeah, that's an interesting idea. I was imagining either using a small battery powered HDMI monitor, or alternately having the Jetson run a web server to use phone/tablet/whatever to view. I haven't done anything recently on it due to travel and clouds, but at some point I'll pick it back up and let you know how it's going!
