SJAA Officer Elections - March 23

Hello All,
The March board meeting is here and that means it is time for officer elections. Per the club by-laws, the SJAA Board will vote on who will hold the four officer positions for the year. Any club member can be an officer, you don't have to be a board member to be considered. You don't need to be nominated, just reach out and let us know if you are interested in running for the position. (Note that SJAA is a volunteer only organization, so neither the board members nor the officers get any compensation.)
This year we have two returning officers. Swami is running again as President and RobJ as Treasurer. This doesn't mean that you can't run against them, but if you are motivated please consider one of the open positions. Long time, and greatly missed SJAA member Bill O'Neil has retired and relocated out of the area, so we are in need of a new Vice President. RobC, our Secretary, is also stepping down.
Rough job descriptions:
VP:
* Act as a backup to the President (run board meetings, respond to emails from partner organizations, help coordinate activities, etc)
* Time Commitment: Between 3 hours a month to 5-10 hours a week depending on how busy/overloaded the President is.
Secretary:
* Take meeting minutes at the monthly board meetings and post them to the club members and the public.
* RobC also does some misc IT work, email group administration, website maintenance, etc that is not really part of the job description but it would be good if you are interested in this as well.
* Time Commitment: 3-5 hours a week.
Everyone is welcome at any board meeting, but feel free to come this month specifically to let the board know your recommendations for the officer positions. Of course candidates are especially encouraged to be present.

Just 6 days to go for the SJAA officers elections. As RobC mentioned, we do have 2 positions that urgently need to be filled - Vice President and Secretary.
Just a small clarification about the time commitment for the VP position. It is not 5-10 hours a week, for sure. The VP role actually is the least demanding of the 4 officer roles, since it is primarily a backup for the President. Of course, if you have the bandwidth to take on more tasks to help the President out - like Bill did during his tenure - it is very welcome. But, as far as the time commitment goes, it is expected to be between 3 to 10 hours a month, not per week.
