Hello SJAA Members and Friends,
There are no public SJAA events this weekend, but let me share a two things, news about the SJAA newsletter, and Yuri's Night.
+++Ephemeris+++
The editorial responsibilities for the SJAA newsletter, the Ephemeris, is changing hands. Mina and Mark Wagner will be taking over as editors of our publication and I would like to thank them for taking this on. It's certainly an unsung job, but one that's important since, according to our by-laws, the newsletter is the official means of communication for the organization. And let me also take this opportunity to thank Paul and Mary Kohlmiller for publishing the Ephemeris for over seven years. Wow! Their great work has not gone unnoticed!
I would now like to put out a call for content: submit an article to the Ephemeris! We're very interested in timely topical happenings in the club, that shows how absolutely vibrant the club is - something that probably doesn't see enough light of day. Examples are articles about observing, projects, events. And more: Keep in mind that nearly anything can be related back to astronomy, whether it's related sciences, or anything from nearly any other topic, discipline or hobby. I can easily draw a line from nearly any topic, whether any kind of science, or art, or history, or mythology, back to astronomy. I feel like our hobby is an intersection among nearly everything in the universe. This is a chance for you to use that imagination I know you have, that you cultivated when you were a child! Nurture and encourage!

Happy Yuri's Night! Yuri’s Night is the largest annual celebration of space exploration encompassed by humankind’s curiosity through scientific and technical achievements. Taking place each year in hundreds of cities around the world, Yuri’s Night was established to commemorate humankind’s first venture into space by Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961.
