The 2009 event is only about 8 days away now, so I wanted to pass on
some last minute info.

The race this year is Saturday 14th March 2009 - I read on CoolRunning
today that some guy thought it was the 7th. Don't make the same
mistake.

If you are not running this year, make a note of the date for 2010 -
Saturday 13th March 2010. Entries will open in Oct/Nov/Dec and WILL
FILL before Xmas so keep an eye on your favourite websites and email
newsletters.

If you are not sure if you are running this year, then see if your
name is listed as an entrant at:
http://www.sixfoot.com/entrantslist.php

We are still filled up so don't ask about even a wait listed spot if
you haven't yet entered - I have a very long list already that is not
moving. If you want to pull out between now and Sat March 7th 23:59
then we will offer a refund so don't hesitate - get in quick. We are
still keen to trim our numbers back down to the race limit imposed by
Dept of Lands. I can virtually guarantee that the race field won't
increase next year and will stay at 850 starters. We currently have
884 paid/listed.

Don't turn up to Katoomba hoping to squeeze in at the last minute -
there will be NO entries on race weekend. I will also see to it that
anyone trying to run without a race number will never run Six Foot
again, so please don't try it.

Fundraising
========
Last year we handed $22,500 to the RFS for last year's event, a bit
reduced as we had increased costs. To try to bump up figure this year.
we have a nifty online fundraising page where its easy to get donated
to by friends, family, work colleagues etc:
http://www.mycause.com.au/event_landing.php?id=238
Please log on and try to raise some money - this goes direct to RFS
Blue Mountains bank account and the system will give you a printable
tax deductible receipt.

Clothing/Bus orders
==============
If you forgot to pre-order a tshirt or bus ticket then please do so
now - if you wait until race weekend it could be too late:
https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?ID=1552

If you run the Sydney Striders 10km on Sat 7th March at North Head you
can pick up your Tshirt/cap etc order early. No need to be a strider.
More info at:
http://www.sydneystriders.org.au/10k/

Entrants List
=========
Please check you are listed on the entrants list - if you think you
should be but you aren't then email me asap.
http://www.sixfoot.com/entrantslist.php
Its a bit late to change waves but if you want to move down to run
with mates then you can eg w1to w2 to w3 to w4 but you can't move UP a
wave.

Race weekend
===========
I am getting a lot of emails about timing & procedure on race weekend.
Please read this first:
http://www.sixfoot.com/startdetails.php
Note the key change is we are at the Carrington Hotel for race number
pickup (10am-10pm Fri 13th March) and NOT the Edge Cinema as per
previous.
Also read this about buses back etc:

Medical Info
=========
The race's medical supervisor, Dr Jonathan King has put together some
of his thoughts on how to approach Six Foot and make suggestions on
looking after yourself :
Sixfoot Hydration, dehydration, overhydration and cramps and also some
Sixfoot Medical Advice - look at the bottom of our training page:
http://www.sixfoot.com/training.php

Jonathan also coordinates are extremely well-frequented M*A*S*H unit
at the finishline and on Black Range Rd and is coordinating a medical
trial this year - refer here:

Latest Race Gossip
==============
All the latest info is posted to CoolRunning's dedicated six foot
forums :
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/forums/index.php?showforum=28
As an example, some geek (Ben Waterhouse) has posted some good info on
how temperature on race day affects performance:
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=22574
But of course there's loads of other useful info if you have a spare
few minutes.

Till next time ....
