Sorry for not sending out many newsletters this year - the main reason
is we have changed our newsletter software from constant contact (very
expensive) to one operated by google (free). however (long story
follows, luckily cut) not all our complete user base has been migrated
yet, so you are the lucky few (900+ from 3000+) to receive this. Feel
free to pass on to your mates and/or running club and ask people to
sign up themselves via http://www.sixfoot.com

Entries Closed
===========
Some of you may be aware that for the first time ever we have a limit
on entries - 850 starters or approx 880 entrants. This year its first
in best dressed as I didn't think we would hit the limit. Well, if you
don't read the race website or CoolRunning forums - we filled early
and even now still have approx 900 entrants. It follows that we are
have a small problem with Dept Lands. To alleviate this we are
offering a full refund of entry, bus tickets, clothing etc minus a $5
admin fee to cover our bank expenses.

We are not operating the "heldover" procedure in future as its too
cumbersome - we will just do refunds.

If you want to pull out between now and Sat March 7th 23:59 then we
will offer a refund so don't hesitate - get in quick.

Will we have a wait list ? I doubt it as we still have too many
already signed up.

fundraising
========
At last shout, we handed $22,500 to the RFS for last year's event, a
bit reduced as we had increased costs. To try to bump up figure this
year. we have a nifty online fundraising page where its easy to get
donated to by friends, family, work colleagues etc:
http://www.mycause.com.au/event_landing.php?id=238

Please log on and try to raise some money - this goes direct to RFS
Blue Mountains bank account and the system will give you a printable
tax deductible receipt.

Clothing/Bus orders
==============
If you forgot to pre-order a tshirt or bus ticket then please do so
now - if you wait until race weekend it could be too late:
https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?ID=1552

Entrants List
=========
Please check you are listed on the entrants list - if you think you
should be but you aren't then email me asap.
http://www.sixfoot.com/entrantslist.php

Also check your date of birth, club etc and email me any changes asap.

We are starting to list people's waves. Feel free to email if
disappointed but, as an example, 198 people tried to get into wave 1
which is 100 spots only. We will try to allocate as per our
guidelines, so asking for favours will be unsucessful so save your
effort for race day and prove us wrong!

Race weekend
===========
I am getting a lot of emails about timing & procedure on race weekend.
Please read this first:
http://www.sixfoot.com/startdetails.php
Note the key change is we are at the Carrington Hotel for race number
pickup (10am-10pm Fri 13th March) and NOT the Edge Cinema as per
previous.

Latest Race Gossip
==============
All the latest info is posted to CoolRunning's dedicated six foot
forums :
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/forums/index.php?showforum=28
As an example, some smart six footer (Ben Waterhouse) has posted some
good info on how temperature on race day affects performance:
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=22574
But of course there's loads of other useful info if you have a spare
few minutes.

Stomlo Running Festival
==================
To top off your training, you may not be aware that the Stromlo
Running Festival is being held just outside Canberra this coming
Weekend 27/28 Feb. It includes a 30km trial run AND a talk by Six Foot
Course Record Holder Barry Keem - well worth attending:

Till next time ....
