The 2009 event is pretty much us - and I know that a bunch of you
won;t get this till next week as you have already started your
journey, but for those of you at home or at work on Friday - here is
some last minute info that may help.

But to get you in the mood, please check out this inspirational video
from last years run:
http://www.dailymotion.com/search/foot+track+marathon/video/x4om5y_6-foot-track-marathon-2008_sport

Race check in for numbers and chips is tomorrow (Fri 13th 10am-10pm)
and the race is Satrday 14th starting 8am (unless you are in the early
wave at 7am).

If you are not running this year, make a note of the date for 2010 -
Saturday 13th March 2010. Entries will open in Oct/Nov/Dec and WILL
FILL before Xmas so keep an eye on your favourite websites and email
newsletters.

More details for the start are here, including times/locations for
buses, check in etc:
http://www.sixfoot.com/startdetails.php

and for the finish here:
http://www.sixfoot.com/finishdetails.php

If you are not sure if you are running this year, then see if your
name is listed as an entrant at:
http://www.sixfoot.com/entrantslist.php
We are still filled up so don't ask about even a wait listed spot if
you haven't yet entered -

DO NOT turn up to Katoomba hoping to squeeze in at the last minute -
there will be NO entries on race weekend. I will also see to it that
anyone trying to run without a race number will never run Six Foot
again, so please don't try it. Don't email either as we will all be
busy from here on in travelling and manning the race number pickups.

Whilst on the subject of things not to do - DO NOT TRY TO PARK AT THE
START OR GET DROPPED OFF OR PARK ON THE HIGHWAY OR SQUEEZE AROUND THE
SIDE ROADS, it annoys the residents, it annoys the police and it is
very very dangerous.
We ask this every year and every year I suspect the same people ignore
it. I know it is "old timers" as that's where we used to park when the
road wasn't like a freeway. Maybe I will come and photograph for the
shame file! Park by the skyway with everyone else please.

Bus tickets will be available at The Carrington Hotel and at the
finish. Ditto for Tshirts etc

Fundraising
========
Last year we handed $22,500 to the RFS for last year's event, a bit
reduced as we had increased costs. To try to bump up figure this
year.
we have a nifty online fundraising page where its easy to get donated
to by friends, family, work colleagues etc:
http://www.mycause.com.au/event_landing.php?id=238
Please log on and try to raise some money - this goes direct to RFS
Blue Mountains bank account and the system will give you a printable
tax deductible receipt. We will leave this open for a couple of weeks
for any latecomers.
I am mightily impressed to see more than $10,000 raised already.
Remember we have offered a Thsirt/singlet or cap to anyone raising
more than $100 and an adventure top (worth $90) if you raise more than
$500.

Entrants List
=========
Please check you are listed on the entrants list - if you think you
should be but you aren't then email me asap.
http://www.sixfoot.com/entrantslist.php
Its a bit late to change waves but if you want to move down to run
with mates then you can eg w1to w2 to w3 to w4 but you can't move UP
a
wave. DO NOT EMAIL ME, just ask at The Carrington.

Medical Info
=========
The race's medical supervisor, Dr Jonathan King has put together some
of his thoughts on how to approach Six Foot and make suggestions on
looking after yourself :
Sixfoot Hydration, dehydration, overhydration and cramps and also
some
Sixfoot Medical Advice - look at the bottom of our training page:
http://www.sixfoot.com/training.php
Jonathan also coordinates are extremely well-frequented M*A*S*H unit

All the latest info is posted to CoolRunning's dedicated six foot

As an example, some geek (Ben Waterhouse) has posted some good info
on
how temperature on race day affects performance:

But of course there's loads of other useful info if you have a spare
few minutes.
