Six on History: Ginormous New York Images

1)  June 1942. "Queens, New York. Nursery school at the Queensbridge housing                    project. Children playing with blocks."





2) Shelter Island, New York, circa 1904. "Landing at Manhanset Manor." The                           sidewheeler Nantasket coming abeam.






3) New York circa 1905. "J.P. Morgan building, 23 Wall Street at Broad." The Drexel               Building, eclipsed by its gilded tenant at the nexus of the financial universe






4) December 9, 1932. "International Music Hall, Radio City, New York. Foyer from                 balcony."






5) Off Sandy Hook Light circa 1899. "Sailing ship Mary L. Cushing."

 Said to have been the last full-rigged ship built in Massachusetts, the Mary L. Cushing was launched in Newburyport in 1883 by George E. Currier. Registered to Pendleton, Carver & Nichols of Searsport in 1895, and eventually sold into the salmon trade; disappeared from the register in 1907.
