Ash Wednesday Service and Chili cook-off at

First Presbyterian of Ashland invites all and sundry to the annual chili
cookoff on Ash Wednesday, February 25th, at First Presbyterian, 16th and
Winchester in Ashland, at 5:30pm. Categories for chili are Hot, Mild,
and Unusual. You don't have to sign up in advance to enter, just show
up w/chili. Those not bringing chili for the contest may bring salads
or desserts.

Following the chili cookoff, there will be a traditional service of
worship for Ash Wednesday with imposition of ashes. The imposition of
ashes for Ash Wednesday is an ancient tradition in the church,
symbolizing both our awareness of our sin, and our repentance, and our
desire to join with Jesus in the Lenten experience of His passion. We
would like for each of the Six churches to participate, and to let us
know who from each church will be helping to lead the service.
