Move down to ribbon cutting

The Monon has been extended north of Sheridan and maybe one of these days the Nickel Plate in Indy will connect to the one that we ride on from Rochester to Kokomo. 
Also check out the Elroy to Sparta trail in Wisconsin. We missed out on that on our trip in the 80s to Wisconsin. It’s going to be on PBS.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is Saturday, October 4 and what better place to explore than Stone Eater Bike Park near Lebanon!

Location: Stone Eater Bike Park, 4010 US-52, Thorntown, IN 

“If you can ride a bike, you can ride Stone Eater," said City of Lebanon Engineer Kevin Krulik. Though the park has some trails that challenge advanced riders, the core of Stone Eater Bike Park is 5+ miles of white stone trails.

• Ribbon Cutting earlier today:  The Monon Trail has been extended northward from Sheridan to the Hamilton County / Boone County line.
• Wednesday, Oct. 8, 4 pm, B&O Ribbon Cutting, Chapel Rock Christian Church, 2020 N. Girls School Rd., Indianapolis (future trailhead), B&O now goes from downtown Indianapolis to middle of Hendricks County. Celebration Ride Oct. 8 @ 6 pm starting at Daredevil Brewing Company in Speedway
• Wednesday, Oct. 15, 4 pm, Riley Art Trail, Greenfield @ James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home & Museum, 250 W. Main St., Greenfield.
• Tuesday, Oct. 21, 4 pm, Nickel Plate Trail Ribbon Cutting @ 62nd & Allisonville, Indianapolis. Nickel Plate Trail in Indianapolis is partially complete. More to come with bridges at Keystone (2027) and at 82nd (2028) and yet-to-be-completed connection near I-465 project. Once complete, the Nickel Plate will connect the Monon to Noblesville, intersecting near the state fairgrounds.

Daniel Stevenson from Indianapolis DPW  will outline 2026 plans for 86th Street (Meridian to Allisonville), conversation primarily focused on College to Keystone and Monon/86th Crossing. 
Street safety funds included in $20M city budget addition (IBJ)
Councilor Andy Nielsen, a Democrat, introduced the an amendment for and additional $20 million in the 2026 Indianapolis budget in tandem with the city’s controller. It includes $2 million for strip patching, an additional $750,000 for the city’s eviction court assistance program, an additional $2 million for roadwork design and $1 million for pedestrian and traffic safety rapid response initiatives. “In this budget process, we’ve heard pretty clearly of needing a focus on pedestrian and traffic safety,” Nielsen said. “We’re making a million-dollar investment in that, plenty more to go.”
