                We would like to bring to your kind attention the report published in “Kumudham Jothidam”weekly magazine dated 30th March 2012, citing the decision taken by the National Highways Authority of India to demolish the 1000 year old Shiva Temple at Panayapuram near Mundiambakkam for laying a four lane road on NH 45C.  Thousands of devotees are shocked to know about NHAI’s decision to pull down the shrine, sung by saint Thirugnanasambandar. This historic Temple is maintained by HR &CE dept of the Govt of Tamil Nadu. Many people throng to this Temple with the belief that their problems related to eyes get resolved.

               In this connection we seek your intervention for saving the Heritage structure  that remains as testimony to our belief for several centuries. We are sure that your favorable action will prevent NHAI from proceeding as per their plan.

                          We request you to prevent even any small damage to the temple as the damage to such ancient temples filled with grace would have detrimental effect on the country.  We request your good self to take immediate action in this regard.
