So I ran across this wiki article and was amused to find that SITO was listed.

hey, thats us!  :)   thanks for spotting that and calling it out here.

i guess if you want to be a stickler, the web was invented before sito was, but certainly there were not a lot of (public) websites in 1993 (january to be exact) when sito kicked off.  it started on FTP too, so definitely pre-web as far as where the action was.

want to see the evidence?  usenet(!) still exists (technically) and here is an archive of the post that ed sent!
