These sweet, spicy, juicy Bang Bang Chicken Skewers have become one of my favourite BBQ recipes! Juicy, spiced chicken skewers, slathered with a rich and flavor packed sauce, and grilled until caramelized and slightly charred. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, or for a backyard bbq feast for friends and family. I dare say this is a must make folks!

The name bang bang chicken is derived from the Chinese word for stick, bng, referring to the baton or cudgel traditionally used to tenderize the meat. This version of the dish is definitely westernized using ingredients that are in your pantry or easy to find at most grocery stores. These spicy chicken skewers are really amazing! They are sweet, creamy and spiced. Depending on your spice tolerance you can easily amp up the heat to your preference!

This is a simple recipe that most home cooks will feel comfortable tackling. First step is seasoning the sliced chicken thighs with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and maple syrup. From there we mix together the bang bang sauce which is mayo, lime juice, sriracha, and sweet Thai chilli sauce. Brush the chicken skewers with the bang bang sauce and toss them on the grill! Thats is! Maybe save some of the bang bang sauce to add on after the chicken is cooked.

I would suggest serving bang bang chicken with jasmine rice as a base. Since we are grilling the chicken you could also toss some seasonal veggies onto the grill to round out the meal. If you wanted to serve a side salad I would suggest making my orange sesame cabbage salad. Now that is a menu!

Just chop some boneless skinless chicken thighs and add to a bowl with all the ingredients above and mix all together well. Thread onto skewers, adding as much or as little chicken as you like to every skewer. Pop in the air fryer to roast at 400F for 13 to 15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked, golden, crispy, and charred. Add a drizzle of the bang bang sauce on top of each skewer and finish off with some chopped green onions to enjoy.

My favorite way to enjoy these skewers is with steamed jasmine rice and veggies like broccoli. You can also have it with coconut rice if you want to be a bit more fancy. I also love making a salad to eat with it. The salad has cabbage, carrots, butter lettuce, cucumber, green onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, wonton strips, and a sweet and spicy peanut dressing. However you eat it, these bang bang chicken skewers will be so good, that it becomes a dinner on repeat.

Bang Bang Chicken Skewers in the air fryer and in under 30 minutes! This easy and healthy dinner packs so much flavor from the creamy bang bang sauce that's a bit spicy and a bit sweet. Serve it with rice and some steamed broccoli for the complete meal!

Sriracha. This is another vinegary, spicy savory sauce found in the international aisle at the grocery store. You can use any brand. Use as much or as little as you prefer. I use it in so many recipes like Chicken & Shrimp Fried Rice or Honey Sriracha Shrimp.

Step Two. Working one skewer at a time, thread the chunks of chicken until about 1/2- 3/4ths of the skewer is filled. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and lime juice. Mix well. This will make about 1.5 cups bang bang sauce.

Step Three. Pour half of the sauce into a separate bowl and set aside to use after the chicken has been cooked (for dipping and glazing!). Add the chicken skewers to a baking sheet (photo 3). Use the rest of the sauce to brush evenly over the chicken, be sure to get in between as well.

Step Six. For the Air Fryer: Add the skewers to the basket of your air fryer in a single layer. (Depending on the size of the air fryer, you may have to work in batches, or you may need to cut the sticked in half.) Air fry at 400F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway. Chicken will be fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165F. Next, transfer the skewers to a plate and drizzle or brush with the reserved bang bang sauce add an optional drizzle of hot honey. Serve immediately.

This Bang Bang Chicken Bowl is cubes of seasoned chicken tossed in a creamy, spicy Bang Bang sauce served over rice with crispy vegetables. Then, each bowl is topped with avocado, cilantro, and sesame seeds for a burst of freshness and texture. And, the chicken is made in an air fryer with skillet instructions included. This bowl was inspired by my extremely popular Bang Bang Chicken Skewers!

Bang Bang Sauce: The sauce is both sweet and spicy. You can make it with homemade mayonnaise and sweet chili sauce. If you want it spicier, add more Sriracha. You can make the sauce ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. It is the same delicious sauce I used on my Bang Bang Chicken and Bang Bang Salmon, which you will want to try, too!

Chicken: I used 2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces. Toss the chicken with oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper before cooking in the air fryer. Then, bang bang sauce will be added for that sweet and spicy kick. Chicken thighs would also work; just make sure it is cooked to an internal temperature of 165F.

There are definitely ways to get a head start on these bowls so they are ready to be put together when you are! The bang bang sauce can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The rice can also be made ahead of time and warmed up when ready to assemble the bowls. In addition, you could make the bang bang chicken and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Homestead Recipes is a book about comfort food! The best kind in my opinion. This book has you covered with recipes for all types of meals, with chapters for breakfast, casseroles, soups, appetizers, ground beef, chicken, pork, vegetables, salads, bars, desserts, and cookies.

Bang Bang Fried Cauliflower Bowls. Featuring crispy golden fried cauliflower florets doused in a homemade sweet chili bang bang sauce served over rice with creamy avocado, some edamame pods and pickled vegetables. These bowls are super filling and restaurant inspired with an Asian flare that get finished with an extra drizzle of kewpie mayo.

This dish is extra saucy with a kick! Sweet, spicy and creamy all at the same time. Serve this up with your choice of toppings. I used some avocado, pickled cucumber, edamame pods and pickled red onion over rice. The cauliflower would be perfect over a salad for something a little lighter.

We all know I love to recreate restaurant-style favorites at home, so I knew these had potential. And that sweet, spicy, and creamy bang bang sauce sounded pretty darn delicious. It has sweet Thai chili sauce, which is always a favorite.

But the next day, I saw bang bang shrimp on my recipe list and something about the idea of the crispy avocado with the saucy shrimp sounded like perfection. And then, I was excited. Which was awesome, because recipes have been tricky lately.

Start with the sauce. Bang bang sauce is usually mayo, sweet Thai chili sauce, and hot sauce. I doubled the sweet Thai sauce and used an avocado oil-based mayo. You could also use yogurt, but I do think mayo is probably best here.

This has become a family favorite. The fried avocado really makes it, although in a pinch (if you are short on time) you can skip the breading and frying and add more sauce, although it really is worth it to take the time ? my daughter is a vegetarian and this is a recipe that is delicious with and without the shrimp. She adds some black beans that have been drained, rinsed, warmed with a bit of water and oil drizzle and a pinch of lime wedge. So good. We love this!! I have been using the frozen bang bang shrimp from Whole Foods that is already breaded and just sprinkling with the onion & garlic powder before baking it as a shortcut. This is a dinner I can quickly lit together on a weeknight and everyone is happy:)

These bang bang brussels sprouts are crispy and delicious. Roasted until perfection, the brussels are charred and drizzled with a creamy garlicky chili sauce that adds the perfect element of flavor. Seriously addictive and poppable!

I live for a good side dish, and these bang bang brussels sprouts do not disappoint. Roasted, crispy brussels sprouts drizzled with a creamy bang bang sauce made with chili garlic sauce and sweet chili sauce. The combination is so delicious!

Bang bang chicken skewers are a fun and flavor-packed dish perfect for summer! Marinated to tender perfection and served with my no-sugar-added bang bang sauce, this healthy and delicious skewered chicken recipe is sure to become a go-to for family cookouts!

Skewered bang bang chicken thighs or breasts can be air-fried, broiled, or grilled. My healthy bang bang chicken marinade has NO added sugar and uses yogurt to tenderize the meat overnight. This is a great dish to make ahead for meal prep!

This is one of my favorite chicken on a stick recipes because it achieves such a sweet, tangy, and spicy flavor using truly healthy ingredients. Unlike other recipes, my finger-licking bang bang sauce uses NO added sugar and this healthy marinade makes the meat incredibly tender.

Ever found yourself puzzled over how to get that chicken to stay put on a stick without falling off? This technique ensures your chicken stays tender, moist, and firmly on the skewer. You can also use this technique for other chicken on a skewer recipes, like my chicken yakitori skewers:

This is a great dish to prep ahead of time, as the marinade works best when left overnight. The skewers are also easy to store and rehear, making this a great meal prep recipe for the week. They travel well, too!

Serve as a chicken skewers appetizer or pair with your favorite sides to let this protein dish shine as a main course of any meal. They are great served over rice and with cooked veggies or raw salads.
