This week's links:

Education:
Clip of Jamaica HS student play "Antigone." The 2 minute clip of the play gave me motherloving goosebumps - SO DOPE!! (Gotham Schools)
Kathy Black met with boo's at first PEP hearing. (NY1)
Parent says concerns with Kathy Black go beyond the jokes. (Gotham Schools)
Cheat sheet on education in Obama's State of the Union address. (Education Week)
What's Joel Klein been up to? (reason.tv)

World:
What started as food protests, have turned into a revolution in Tunisia (much over facebook) right before our eyes! Folks protesting unemployment and rising food prices have driven autocratic President ben Ali to flee the country. The future of that government and economy is still up in the air. But this just shows how quickly movements can build and reach a critical mass. (LA TImes, publicradio.org)

Music & Art:
Lauryn Hill's words of love and wisdom (Race Wire)

History:
John F Kennedy made his famous inauguration address 50 years ago this week. (YouTube)
Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically-elected leader of the Congo, was assassinated 50 years ago this week. (Democracy Now) I'm bugging out that those two historic turning points happened within days of each other.

On a personal note, this article on Chinese "tiger moms" has sparked much national debate (like herehere and here) and personal reflection for me. A bunch of us had a really good conversation on how parents of color, and Latino/a parents specifically, are similar to the tiger moms described.

That's all.

Patches out!
