This week's links:

In education:
In addition to all the news you all were MAKING this week (again, all compiled at SBU fb page)...
"This Ain't Egypt Mr Mayor," Bloomberg compared to Mubarak for his response to our actions. HELL YES!! (NY Daily News)
'Race to the Top' torn apart in the Washington Post. (Washington Post, obviously)
Pedro Noguera: "Obama has a long way to go on education reform." (CNN)

In people's revolutions all over the world:
Why are they protesting in Egypt? (The Root)
Youth, Joblessness and Revolution in Egypt - and America. Drawing connections to the youth movement here. (ColorLines)
How To Protest Intelligently - Training manual from Cairo (Frontlines of Revolutionary Struggle blog)
Yemen cancels university tuition as protests mount (Student Activism blog)
The World on Fire: Tunisia, Egypt and the Power of Protest (Racialicious)

In hip hop (& health):
DJ Kool Herc (founding father of hip hop and BX community member from Sedgwick) is very sick and cannot afford the medical attention that he needs. It's sad times for the hip hop community but also reveals alot of the inherent flaws in our health care system. Good posts by Kevin Powell and Jeff Chang, including links for ways to support Kool Herc.
J Dilla: the Mozart of Hip Hop (UK Guardian). 5 years ago, James "J Dilla" Yancey died after a long fight with lupus. Dilla was the architect of one of the most powerful and influential movements in hip hop history, blessing legends like A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Mos Def, The Roots, Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Janet Jackson, MF DOOM and many others with his musical backdrops.

patches out!
