 JD Mason

DNFOM

That Devil's No Friend of Mine

Released:  March 2009
ISBN-13: 9780312368852

When Bishop Fontaine passed away, he left behind more than a list of good deeds.  He was known as a caring friend and doting father...but he was also manipulative and controlling, especially to those he loved.

His death begins to unravel deep secrets and shocking desires among the people he cared most about.   Five very different people whose lives are only connected by Bishop suddenly find themselves up close and personal as desires, dreams and passions collide.

Reviews:
"Mason has become a major name in African American fiction. Her stark portrayals of her characters and their innermost thoughts bring the readers right into the emotional center of the story. Those who enjoy Carl Weber and Eric Jerome Dickey will add Mason to their list of favorites." --Booklist

"Bishop Fontaine is a huge presence in the lives of his friends and family, and Mason adeptly shows how his death has an equally powerful impack on them. Diverse emotions flow across the pages, and readers will savor the intimacies and storylines that make this novel an exceptional offering." --Romantic Times BOOKreviews

Greetings,

I have sent an email on March 23 with no response.

I am wanting to attend one of the Sisters and Brothers of Hotlanta Book Club meetings in the Gwinnett or North Fulton area...however, they are not identified on the websites calendar of events.  Is it due to the fact that I am not a member, nor have bee invited by a current member?-- I am sure you can understand that prior to completing an application and paying my dues, that I should visit a meeting to see if the "vibe" of the group.

Please advise.

Hello Nadine,

This is The Sistah Circle Book Club, and we are not affiliated with the Atlanta group you are speaking of.  You have emailed the SCBC Google Group that provides online reading suggestions and literay information for those AA women who may not be part of a local reading group--we are an online reading group.

Perhaps your email message got crossed and you need to contact the Atlanta book club.

Thanks and hope this helps,

Regards,

I understand and agree, but I have no knowledge about the book club you referenced.  If you want to read a good book about the African American family and problems, look for "It's Not Too Late, Dialogue from the Heart."
