Great to see you in Nairobi last month! I’m writing to see if you (or others from Sisonke Biotik) would be interested in doing a short presentation at our next DS-I Africa virtual event – more details below!
The DS-I Africa program is hosting our next Virtual Networking Exchange on 24 April 2024 from 2:00-5:30pm Central Africa Time and we would love for someone from your team to participate! You would only need to attend for about one hour during which you (and possibly 1-2 more presenters from other organizations) will share information about your organization, what you look for in partners, and how others can approach you to collaborate. It’s meant to be informal with lots of time for Q&A with the audience. It is meant to be informal with lots of time for Q&A with the audience. This event will focus on non-academic organizations and we are expecting 300+ participants working on data science and health in Africa.
Please consider registering or let me know if you or someone from your organization can participate, ideally by Friday 12 April.

- Meet and connect with organizations sharing your dedication to data science and health.
- Discover inspiring projects underway from other non-academic organizations.
- Identify potential collaborators to strengthen your work and impact.
- Uncover new opportunities for partnership and growth.
How it works
The Virtual Networking Exchange is an informal networking event that will take place in Zoom through several rounds of breakout rooms. One week before the event, participants can learn about the different participating organizations through an interactive website. On the day of the event, participants will join a Zoom session to receive instructions about the event. Participants will then choose a breakout room to visit. In each breakout room, participants will hear a short presentation from featured non-academic organizations and can ask questions to the presenter. Participants are welcome to move around to different Zoom rooms to learn about several organizations. After an allotted time, the breakout rooms will close and participants will join a new round of networking with different organizations.
How to participate
To participate, you have to register and simply join on the day of the event.
Whether you're a seasoned data scientist or just starting your journey, this is an invaluable chance to network, learn, and collaborate with a vibrant community of peers.
