Bio
Dr Udunna Anazodo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, McGill University. Dr Anazodo completed her doctoral training in Medical Biophysics at Western University and was a MITACS Accelerate Fellow at The Lawson Health Research Institute. She leads the Multimodal Imaging of Neurodegenerative Disease (MiND) Lab at The Montreal Neurological Institute where her group develops PET and MRI techniques for quantitative neuroimaging. Dr Anazodo is very passionate about improving access to diagnostic imaging with a focus on population and global health. She is the founder and Chair of Advancement of MRI Education and Research in Africa (CAMERA), a global network of MRI experts working to establish sustainable access to high-value MRI in Africa through local capacity building and the Scientific Director of Medical Artificial intelligence (MAI) Lab at Crestview Radiology Ltd in Lagos, Nigeria, Africa's first AI lab dedicated to training, development and implementation of AI applications in medical imaging. She is also the Programme Director for the Sprint to AI Training for African Medical Imaging Knowledge Translation (SPARK) Academy, a deep learning and medical imaging train-the-trainer in Africa.
Abstract
AI has the potential to transform diagnostic imaging, particularly in resource-constrained settings. However, this promise is limited by fundamental and lingering structural challenges that bar AI’s implementation in these settings, specifically in African healthcare systems. This webinar will outline the key barriers that limit the use of AI in medical imaging in Africa and propose an approach to drive AI innovation and its application in addressing healthcare needs in the region and other resource-constrained settings.Etiquette for the webinar
