Subject: [Fluxnet-Community] Postdoctoral Research Associate in Soil C Dynamics at U. Edinburgh
Dear Colleagues
We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate to participate in a research consortium on greenhouse gas removals (GGR) from the atmosphere. The research focus is on delivering the most comprehensive global assessment of potential, feasibility, barriers and impacts of soil-based technologies for GGR. The post-holder will quantify the technical potential of a series of soil-based technologies, using spatially explicit process modelling of carbon dynamics. S/he will also assess the land and biomass resource availability, with a focus on biochar feedstock. The modelling will use a C cycle model in a data assimilation framework to characterise global turnover of soil carbon, and its sensitivity over decades, to the soil greenhouse gas removal technologies. There will be close interactions with other modelling groups (Pete Smith @ Aberdeen) and consortium members identifying potential technologies based on experimental data.
