Hello all,

For those interested in actually loading 3D models into Sirikata with the current 3ds Max plugin, there are some great training videos freely available to understand 3ds Max. I won't sugarcoat it and say it's easy to learn. But if you wanted to import your favorite model from any 3D application as an .obj, or even model something in Max directly, texture it, and export it for Sirikata, these videos will get you there. They are nice and short to the point, about 30-40 min each.

One could probably skip the Animation vid for now and just watch the Basic Concepts, Modeling, Rendering

I also have them all available for download on the Resource drive at the Art Institute of CA San Francisco.

Important note for all projects using Sirikata, you will need to use 3ds Max 9 32 bit only. The plug in will not work with Max 9 64 bit, or higher versions of 3ds Max above 9. Also, all texture maps should use the .dds format (DXT).

I'll work out a training days for artists in the San Francisco Bay Area using 3ds Max later on in the quarter after the designs start going through approval. We'll also get started on training videos for those not in California to try it out.

L8,
Platz
