Since
taking over the sipXcom project we have had a few inquiries about
professional support. With 24.01 now stable we have gained
sufficient confidence and control over the full open source code base to
enter these discussions.
Our
primary objective with taking over the sipXcom open source project is
to future proof our commercial mobile PBX service. So we will continue
to embed the latest open source version of sipXcom in production. Our
mobility server, mobile apps, customer admin interface, multi tenanting
plugins etc remain proprietary.
As for professional sipXcom support, we see the following options moving forward:
- Sponsorships:
We have quietly added a Sponsors button
at https://github.com/sponsors/onrelay. Sponsors will get preferential
treatment when reporting issues or suggesting improvements. The bigger
the sponsor the more preferential the treatment.
- Software Support Agreements:
We can offer sipXcom software support agreements on a case-by-case
basis. This will typically entail committing to fix software faults
within SLAs and / or committing to add new features or platform support
as agreed.
- Mobility Package: If
you manage and operate a sipXcom installation and wish to add mobile extensions
to it, we can offer a combined support package for both our mobility
software and sipXcom. The mobility server installs on the sipXcom
primary server and you will still manage your installation. Our
mobile apps work standalone or paired with a deskphone and hence allows
you to replace some or all deskphones in your installation with
smartphones and cell carrier connectivity. See
https://www.onrelay.com/mobile-office-phone-system-features.
As
is hopefully evident from the above we are pragmatic in our approach.
And if you have any other suggestions please don’t hesitate to reach
out.
