I'm curious about the newer version's softphone support and/or a roadmap for future softphone support. I know that in the past sipXcom supported Jitsi, but they have moved onto their video conferencing app. Are there any softphones that were added with version 24 and/or plans to add more?

Hi Jacob,

A natural route for additional softphone support is to integrate WebRTC support with sipXcom.  We added end-to-end secure trunking (TLS and SRTP) with 24.01, which is a step in that direction. This included a new Freeswitch / media services setting for secure media, and Freeswitch has an integrated WebRTC module that could be a promising approach.

Another very interesting approach is integration with leading desktop / web video call systems such as e.g. MS Teams, Cisco Webex, Google Meet.

Right now our immediate focus is however porting sipXcom over to Rocky Linux 9.0 for the 25.01 release, which includes upgrading a number of submodules including Freeswitch re WebRTC.

Otherwise we have tested and used many different free and paid SIP softphones with sipXom -- CounterPath Bria being the preferred choice here.
