I have a new 14.04 Update 4 system. I have set the incoming faxes to come thru as PDF format. However, when the fax is delivered the the email box, its being delivered as a TIFF file. Anybody know why this would happen?

Try to send server profiles.  If that doesn't work, try to reboot.  I haven't seen anybody filing an issue where switching from TIFF to PDF doesn't work, but that doesn't mean that it works on the fly.

Good call George. Found some errors in the log file.  They look like this

"2015-04-28T16:37:42.464000Z":282:sipXivr:ERR:pbx.command.local:pool-2-thread-20:00000000:sipxivr:"faxrx::tiff2Pdf error null"
"2015-04-28T16:37:42.464000Z":283:sipXivr:ERR:pbx.command.local:pool-2-thread-20:00000000:sipxivr:"Fax Receive: Could not convert TIFF to PDF. TIFF will be attached"

What could cause this?

Looks like file cannot be converted to pdf, most likely due to the format, can you try sending different format (letter format for example)?

I am still working on it and i wqs going to post back today. Have been doing some testing. I deleted the fax user and recreated it and the 1st fax that came through was PDF and than the rest have been TIFF since.

There are 3 other users that have no issue receiving faxes as PDF. Any other ideas?

Are you sending the same exact fax to those other 3 from the same fax machine?

Leave that user and try a new user?  I haven't heard of this problem anywhere else...

I am investigating with the carrier right now to see if the DID for that fax is setup for T.38. What's weird is almost all of my 30+ systems all use fax to email in some form and nobody has this issue and I have them all updated to 14.04 Update 4. So this seems to be the exception not the rule.

How about doing at TCPDUMP at the interface of the server to see what is different between this one and the other?

For those with need for familiarity with how fax get works...

If the call is disconnected (transition between first and second pages fails because the fax is not t.38 compliant or either end don't respect 9600 baud or either end try to use each set to on), the fax will fail but because it did a successful connect and handshake it is incomplete. The same if you came the fax with your phone, wait for it to answer and hang up. It will dump a tiff file I to email with an essentially blank tiff file. So I full expect your faxes are not the. 38 compliant.

The way to test this WITHOUT a tech connection. Using fxs port to properly configured port and fax machine to the DID straight through to the proxy (internal dial). If you pass on this the issue is with the it's.

This is how I do it. It always works for me. If you get a tiff file, it's telling you their is a negotiation failure during the transaction.
