Hi,

I'm wondering how to set up a new Polycom Soundstation Duo conference phone as a managed phone. The auto-discovery finds my other Polycom phones, but misses this one. Should I choose one of the existing profiles for Soundstation phones? If so, which one would you suggest?

Thanks,

Tim Ingalls

Try an IP 5000.

The sound station duo will work, but you have to manually configure it.

In case anyone else needs to make the SoundStation Duo work, here is what I did:

First, I uploaded the firmware device file for Polycom UC version 4.0.10. I used the combined download instead of the split application download. According to this matrix, it is the latest firmware made for that phone: http://downloads.polycom.com/voice/voip/sip_sw_releases_matrix.html.

Then, I deleted the existing config files for the MAC address of my SoundStation Duo.

Then, I added into the 00000000000.cfg file a section for the Duo:

  <APPLICATION_SSDuo
            APP_FILE_PATH_SSDuo="polycom/4.0.X/sip.ld"
   CONFIG_FILES_SSDuo="http://sip1.localdomain:8185/[PHONE_MAC_ADDRESS]-sipx-sip.cfg, http://sip1.localdomain:8185/[PHONE_MAC_ADDRESS]-sipx-phone.cfg, http://sip1.localdomain:8185/[PHONE_MAC_ADDRESS]-sipx-device.cfg, polycom_phone1_3.1.X.cfg, polycom_sip_3.1.X.cfg"
      />

This document gave me the correct model name for the Soundstation Duo (as well as all the other models): http://support.polycom.com/global/documents/support/technical/products/voice/Best_Practices_Using_the_Master_35361.pdf

Then I added a new phone into sipXcom that matches the Polycom Soundstation IP 4000 and my phone's MAC address. Then, I sent that phone its profile in the Phones page of sipXcom. That created the config files in the TFTProot directory that match the MAC address.

Then I restarted the phone by logging (remotely) into the phone's Web interface. It pulled down all of the configs except for the SIP server. After I manually added in the SIP server for sipXcom and rebooted, the phone registered properly. I would like to have it use the SRV record so it can register either of my two sipXcom servers, but this works for now.

Would make a good wiki page in the Polycom hardware section.

That's not quite the point of community documentation.

But thanks.
