Hi,

I installed Canary yesterday on a clean Centos 6 and Sipxecs installed correctly ... but when I try to connect to the web gui it just sits on "waiting" or I get a proxy error.  I'm going to try a new install and see if it still does that ...

Thanks,
Steve

Hello Steve,

Please replicate your issue and then run a snapshot via terminal:

sudo sipx-snapshot.

and send us the snapshot file so we could determine the issue on your sipxecs web gui.

regards,

Hello Steve,

After the initial install, did you run sipexcs-setup to initialize the configurations? Also provide us a detail on how you install the sipxecs on the clean centos 6 machine.

Hello Steve,

Is your server permit root login access? If not, please enable the root login and try again.  CFEngine uses root (with certs) to connect to nodes.

Hey Ryan,
Yes it does have root access which I'm using.  I did run the setup script ... actually it ran automatically but I did it again to see if it would help.

I installed a clean Centos 6 minimal, did an update, and then ran this command from the sipfoundry page:
bash -c "$(curl -L http://rpms.sipfoundry.org/canary-release/sipxecs-install)"

That command did everything.  Should I manually add the repo file and do it another way?
Just to clarify ... the browser sits on "waiting" and eventually times out.  I installed sipexecs on a different server a couple weeks ago and it worked fine.  I've tried installing it on a clean Centos 6 twice now with the same result.

Thanks,
Steve

Ryan was unclear.   CentOS minimal has PermitRootLogin in /etc/ssh/sshd_config disabled.   You need to enable this and restart sshd service prior to installing sipx.  So when in stalling sipx, the best way to do it is to make sure you can ssh to the box using root login, then call sipxecs-install. (NOT as a normal user, then su or sudo to root).

If your problem persists, we need to know if your HTTP request is hitting the box at all.   First thing to check is if your firewall is properly set.  iptables -L command should give you the list of ports exposed.  Make sure port 80  and 443 are open.   Lastly if you think all is proper, get a pcap from the server and see if it is hitting your server at all.

Hi joegen,

Yes thanks for the info ... as a matter of fact the first thing I do after an OS install is enable ssh root login, so that was not a problem as I was installing as root.  I tried installing it on a cloud server yesterday and got the same result.  Occasionally I'll get a proxy error but I'll try again and post a snippet from the httpd log as well as the browser's message ... I know it's hitting it, because it says waiting instead of "connecting ..." I have iptables off, so nothing should be restricting it.
Thanks,
Steve

Hello Steve,

We have updated the rpms in the canary-release. This includes bug fixes related to web ui and sip functionalities. Please update your sipxecs rpm and let us know if this issue has been resolved on this update.

you could just execute the command:

sudo yum update

In case, you didn't get those update please run this command

sudo yum clean all

Just to refresh the cache and check for updates.

Hey Ryan,

Well that seems to have done the trick ... I updated and then re-ran sipxecs-setup and now it's working perfectly :)  Excellent job guys and thanks for your help!
