ya im using the scripts form there, if you gain any speed really and jump you loose all of it,
even with a duckroll so unless someone is pro at modding it would be a very slow speedrun
apparently duckroll does remove speedcap, but still duckroll is hard to make a speedrun with
The SourceRuns Marathon 2018 is now over. Over the last weekend, August 3rd through 5th, we have been streaming speedruns of over 30 games, while also raising a total of $522 for the National Alliance of Mental Illness.
We feel that the usage of Bunnymod XT prevents us from verifying the true legitimacy of the runs, as the game is being modified and is no longer the vanilla game that is being distributed on CDs or through Steam. In other words, WON speedruns should be done strictly on WON version distributions of the game, as doing otherwise can introduce a lot of unknown artifacts that were never part of the original game.
An update to Bunnymod XT was released, allowing runners to save the run data (final timer value, gameover event etc.) inside demos. This means that the runners are no longer required to include a screenshot/video together with the runs when submitting them to speedrun.com leaderboards for GoldSrc games.
Recently we had a discussion in our Discord server about allowing and disallowing some certain console-exclusive commands that were being used in various speedrunning techniques. The commands in question were:
Update: Jul 22, The SourceRuns Marathon is now over! Thanks to all the runners and to everyone who watched the marathon, it was a really great experience! A list with all the speedrun videos done during the marathon can be found here.
It is no easy task to speedrun through a course, especially when a player is required to shoot, throw grenades, jump, crouch, and more while moving continuously. Players spend hours figuring out the best possible way to make it through the course in the fastest possible time, taking into account various things like shortest possible path, grenade lineups to pick off enemies in advance, memorising each and every enemy position, practicing their aim to pick off enemies with a single head shot, perfect bhopping (bunny hopping) to cut off precious seconds, and a hundred other things.
Setting a speedrunning record through various courses is definitely a thing that Counter-Strike players compete for, not all users do it but it certainly has its own set of enthusiasts. What is your fastest speedrun timing through the course?
The first instance of b-hopping was observed in 1998 in the Quake 1 engine. At the time, speedrunner Quick Lite completed a Quake speed run while bunny hopping. Since then, b-hopping was moved over to GldSrc. Bunny-hopping has continued to grow in popularity since its discovery in Quake and was then used in the Portal and Half-Life franchises.
Also, the b-hop community is home to a passionate and dedicated fanbase. The community is known to be helpful to newcomers and is still thriving. Professional map builders continue to develop maps for players of all levels. Additionally, the best b-hoppers continue to speedrun established maps, creating different ways to complete them.
Minecraft has continued to be popular due to its dynamic gameplay, including its ever-growing speedrun scene. Speed runs have taken over Twitch long after the controversial Dream records. xQc and Forsen are the latest to continue the craze with their back-and-forth record-breaking speed runs.
Whether the next steps for Valheim feature new maps, new zones, new bosses, new enemies, new tools, new skills or any combination of these - the speedrunning scene can continue getting more in-depth.
