The analysis technique muvee uses is proprietary, but it seems to favor short chunks of video with facial closeups and prominent objects (birthday cakes, buildings), and to discard images with excessive motion, which helps to eliminate bad camera work. Then it synchronizes the keeper chunks of video with the background music and inserts transitions and special effects according to the selected style.
