Searchingby subject headings, and limiting to books/ebooks is a great way to find fewer, and more specific resources. These terms are created by the Library of Congress, and are used across libraries. For example:

MU Libraries shelves books based on Library of Congress Classification System, meaning all resources with similar topics are located together. Most LGBTQ materials in Ellis Library can be found between HQ70-HQ80 in 2 East.

Within the record for each book is an expandable section titled "Similar Books," which can assist in finding additional resources for your research, or your next favorite book! For example, the first book in this list, "You can tell just by looking..." recommends similar titles of "Queer America: A GLBT history of the 20th century," "Gay rights and moral panic," "Stonewall: The riots that sparked the gay revolution," and more. Check out a few of these titles to get an idea of what MU has to offer:

The book by Lo is a historical fiction coming-of-age story about a Chinese American teenager learning to understand herself, her sexuality and her culture in 1954 San Francisco, according to a description on Barnes & Noble.

Yanity cited the 1982 U.S. Supreme Court case of Island Trees School District vs. Pico in which Justice William Brennan said that school boards could not determine the content of school libraries based on their personal political ideology.

The Brooklyn Public Library is now offering a free library card to anyone in the U.S. aged 13 to 21 who wants to check out and read books digitally from anywhere in the country. The program, called Books UnBanned, was created by Brooklyn Public Library Chief Librarian Nick Higgins in response to the nationwide wave of book censorship and restrictions over the past year. Young people can apply for a free eCard to check out books from the library's 500,000 ebooks and audiobooks collection. Since April, 4,000 youths from all over the country have signed up to check out books through the program.
