Just got Xperia XZ but was dismayed to find it came with swiftkey as default keyboard. After 3 days frustrating use, pleased I found this thread after a bit of googling - have now found and downloaded the apk file and installed Sony's Xperia Keyboard and disabled hated swiftkey. Someone at Sony/Xperia clearly thought having swiftkey as default keyboard was a good idea which is all fine and dandy BUT give users the option to use the Xperia Keyboard instead and install in on phone. Don't leave it to users to have to do this themselves. Not everyone is savvy enough/comfortable installing stuff on their phones, other than via Google Play. (Thankfully I am, otherwise I'd be stuck with Swiftkey!)

PLEASE give back the Xperia keyboard! Or can someone suggest a close alternative, that won't act like a keylogger or something? Swiftkey doesn't seem to have a way to configure it, and it randomly adds spaces or wrong letters as I'm typing! I'm a very fast typer on the Xperia keyboard with no errors and great dictionary built up (I type in many languages, often mixing them in one sentence) but with Swiftkey I feel like I have the dexterity of a 2 year old

Hi, I used to like swiftkey until your freakin update ruined it! First and foremost I dont like enabling the language since it would aslo automatically set up the autocorrect and its a hassle. So I am not doing it. Before this language notification oly appears in the middle on that white space beside that three lines. But now it created a whole new space on top with that gray background and I can barely see what i am typing and above all its now occupying over half of my screen. So please diasable this non sense gray box that says "no keyboard language is set up SELECT LANGUAGE". I AM EVEN HAVIMG A HARD TIME WHILE TYPING THIS MESSAGE! THIS IS RIDICULIOS! Or perhaps this is your one way of saying i should use another keyboard app. Is that right? Resolve this ASAP!

have mostly had Xperia Android phones, but recently moved back to an Xperia XZ from a Samsung galaxy S7. I chose the Samsung because you removed the magnetic charging port... but the keyboard on the Samsung was appalling.

It doesn't happen with Gboard or the default keyboard because they'reintegrated with the Android system, and they have the access to thesettings like "personal dictionary" in Android system; meanwhileSwiftKey is a 3rd party app, it does not have the system level access. That's why it cannot identify the languages other than system defaultlanguage. In other words, Google Spell Checker works with Gboard butnot SwiftKey.

You mentioned on another phone - it works ( aka Swiftkey Italian isnt underlined by spellchecker ) Also try putting swiftkey as default keyboard and there's a language selection ,where you put in Italian as your 1st language and Eng as second ( do that my removing all languages and then add Italian 1st then Eng )

I know that this has been brought up before, but I thought I would add my vote to the movement. It would be great to be able to open the password manager straight from Swiftkey. This would be huge, because a lot of users use Swiftkey. Dashlane has done it with Swiftkey, so clearly it is possible, it is just a matter of coding it.

Ooh yes please! 1Password on my phone is pretty much useless without this feature as I keep having to switch keyboards to log into anything. In turn, this makes the whole of 1Password a lot less useful, as it doesn't cooperate with my phone at all.

@saad - Sadly I wasn't paying attention since it was during the setup of my new phone (kinda distracted by the shiny newness and just wanted stuff working). I will definitely start paying attention and let you know as I experience it.

I'd like to add my vote for swiftkey integration as well! I'm not sure how likely it is now that they're owned by Microsoft but I'd still love to see it happen or find a better way to do filling on Android.

Thanks for the feedback, @zendnez. The issue with the keyboard not dismissing is a known issue, and we're hoping to get it resolved for a future update. :) I'll pass your comment regarding the Citi app, as well as your :+1: for SwiftKey integration along to the team.

Thanks for the vote, @Wiggerl. I'll let the developers know you'd be interested. That said, I can't make any promises as to if or when we would be able to implement such a feature. We would need to seriously address any concerns that come with passing data through a third-party before this would be possible. :)

The subject says it all. In light of the difficulties people have had with the Fleksy keyboard and VO, I was wondering if anyone had experience with the SwiftKey keyboard and using VoiceOver. SwiftKey is supposed to be another "smart" keyboard that uses predictive typing.

Hi.
I have used it with VO on my iPad Air. All I can say is that it is totally inaccessible. When I try tapping on a letter to type, I don't get any feedback from VO. That's all I can say. Other than that, it's not accessible to VoiceOver users.

Unfortunately there was no feedback as I typed or moved my finger over the keyboard. As I moved my finger around and then flicked around the screen, I could see that predicted words had popped up, but they weren't automatically spoken with voiceOver. thus, one has no idea of what one is typing until one looks around the screen.

Also, I couldn't even switch keyboards since no buttons spoke when I moved around the keyboard area of the screen. I had to totally remove the app from my iPhone to get the built in Apple keyboard to be visible again.

I once tried using the swiftkey keyboard with voiceover on both my iPhone 5S and iPod touch (5th generation) and the word predictions only appeared when voiceover was turned on. When I turned voiceover off the whole keyboard showed up on the screen. I'm a blind iOS user so I can't see the keyboard at all. I once contacted Swiftkey on Google Plus but they thought I was talking about voice dictation for some reason. I tried telling them that voiceover was a screen reader that is built in to iOS devices and it is used so that blind people can navigate their iPhones, iPads and iPod touches but I guess they didn't understand. Maybe Swiftkey can work with Apple to make the keyboard accessible with voiceover.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that swiftkey keyboard is now accessible to voiceover users. I guess Swiftkey and the Apple accessibility team might of worked together in order to make the swiftkey keyboard accessible. Very proud of SwiftKey and Apple today! I just downloaded the swiftkey keyboard app on my iPod touch (5th generation) and it works perfectly.

It doesn't make any noticeable difference. The only thing that a sighted person would notice is that if they turned off voiceover they can type normally. Or they can learn how to use voiceover if they want to learn the accessibility features of the keyboard.

The difference is that the standard keyboard for iOS has word predictions but it doesn't have any themes like the swiftkey keyboard. To be able to switch languages you have to try these steps:
1. Open the swiftkey app on your device.
2. If you haven't done already, follow the instructions on your screen to set up the keyboard.
3. When that's done, open the swiftkey app and scroll down till you hear "languages."
4. Double tap the languages button.
5. Scroll through the list of languages and see if Russian is available.
6. If Russian isn't on the list, submit a feature request to Swiftkey support.
7. You could also write a review in the app store.

I also found out that you can use the direct touch typing and touch typing options like on the default iOS keyboard. Is it true that SwiftKey and the Apple accessibility team came to work together in order to make the keyboard accessible?

I'm actually trying this out and the layout is way too big for my taste. I think I've been spoiled by the real ios keyboard. Lol! But it was easy to set up, I didn't even need a manual, I just followed clear instructions on the screen..

The SwiftKey keyboard is now accesible with VoiceOver! I knew that because I downloaded the keyboard on my iPod touch (5th generation) and it works perfectly. So the developers woke up and made it accessible to VoiceOver users. I wondered if SwiftKey and the apple accessibility team came together. They've been working so hard to make the app accessible. Also I wonder how they came up with that name. Maybe the keyboard was named after Apple's new programming language which is swift? Such a great name for a smart keyboard. Especially for a keyboard that learns from you:)

I like it, but I'm only seeing 3 suggestions like in the real keyboard. Also dictation has been disabled and I can't switch keyboards as it's stuck at default and no way to switch to the other 2 keyboards I have installed. Also what's flow? I tried to look in documentation in the app but could not find it.

Hi. I'm using swiftkey keyboard. How do I made some custom shortcut? For example, I can type home1 for home adress, home2 for home detail, etc. But not autocorrect so that I can still manually choose the text
