YesLiveries need a state issued, no-cost Livery Operator Permit if they are renting motorboats, personal watercraft (PWC), paddlecraft, sailboats, or houseboats that are being operated on the waters of the state.

Livery Operator Permits may be obtained from the FWC. Permits are issued at no cost and are valid for one year. Permits must be renewed annually and the expiration date will be set to the business creation date or birthday of the individual named on the permit.

NOTE: Effective July 1, 2023, if a livery does not have an insurance policy covering the renter AND the renter has chosen to opt out of insurance purchase option, the renter must complete a signed acknowledgement consistent with section 327.54(7)(b)2., Florida Statutes. The optional Opportunity for Renter Insurance Coverage (FWCDLE 319) form may also be used.

Note: Permits are not required to be displayed at the business location but must be made available to law enforcement upon request. It is a violation of section 327.54(2), Florida Statutes, to operate a livery business without an FWC issued Livery Operator Permit.

To operate a motor-powered vessel of 10 horsepower or more, ALL persons born after Jan. 1, 1988, must have successfully completed an approved boating safety course and have a Boating Safety Education ID Card issued by the FWC. The following may also be used to meet this requirement:

*Note: In addition to having the boating safety education course requirements, ALL PERSONS who rent or lease a vessel AND ALL POTENTIAL OPERATORS of a rented or leased vessel must be provided pre-rental and pre-ride instruction as set forth in Rule 68D-34.002, Florida Administrative Code.

Visitors born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, from other states who want to rent a vessel of 10 horsepower or greater, are required to have certification of completion of an approved boating safety education course.

Any person delivering pre-rental or pre-ride instructions must have successfully completed a boating safety education course approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the State of Florida. Proof of completion must be maintained at the rental/business location. Approved boater safety courses can be found on the FWC Boating Safety Courses page.

Livery services provide transportation that is arranged in advance. Their operation, including rates, are also regulated by the state, but they do not use a meter and are not required to operate 24 hours per day. Livery vehicles include automobiles, limousines, shuttles and buses, and accessible vehicles.

Rates are set or approved by the State and are based mostly on mileage. Livery services may charge by the hour. Some, but not all, taxis and livery vehicles are accessible and may accommodate passengers traveling in wheelchairs.

Chapter 9-114 of the Municipal Code of Chicago (MCC), available at amlegal.com, contains the licensing and regulatory framework of the public passenger vehicles listed on this webpage: Livery, Charter/Sightseeing, Low-Speed Electric PPV, Medicar and Jitney Vehicle Licenses.

Liveries are licensed public passenger vehicles that charge a prearranged rate of fare which is not based on a meter. Livery rides and fares must be prearranged and may not be street hailed or secured in cab stands.

The charter/sightseeing vehicle license is required for sightseeing vehicles used for lectured tours offered to the general public for a charge. The license is also required for charter vehicles that offer group trips arranged in advance at a fixed rate.

A medicar license is required for vehicles designed and equipped for non-emergency transportation and used for the purposes of receiving medical attention. For example, a vehicle used to transport an individual from a residence to a rehabilitation center would require a medical carrier license. A medical carrier vehicle may also be used to transport ill, injured or disabled individuals for purposes other than medical care or treatment. For example, transporting elderly residents from their home to a senior center for social activities would require a medical carrier license.

Trail Rides

Jackson Stables, Inc., YMCA of the Rockies Livery, is authorized by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior to serve the public in Rocky Mountain National Park. All of the horseback rides are guided trail rides into RMNP, and on YMCA property. A membership to the YMCA is not necessary to come enjoy horseback riding, pony rides or hayrides.

How do you get ride of the Asobo liveries on aircraft? I tried to uninstall them which worked for the most part but I'm still seeing that blue 'Flight Simulator' livery on Longitudes parked on the ramp. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows how to get ride of this abomination on aircraft...?

In Content Manager, did you change the view from "packages" to "list"? Once you do that, you should be able to scroll through the list and uninstall liveries that are part of packages. To change the view to "list", look for a couple of square icons near the top right.

Also in Content Manager use key word searches (such as "Aviators Club" or "Kenmore") to find multiple similarly named liveries, then check "Select All" at the extreme top right to make it easier to locate and uninstall them. Unused aircraft models and unused or uninteresting world regions can also be uninstalled.

Here is the good news, at the time of this article the rates were unbelievable compared to other horseback riding we have done. They offer two rides, short and long, and they also have pony rides for 10 and under for $5 plus tax. Guided Short Ride is just $20 plus tax and the Guided Long Ride, (which for us was about 1 hour and 45 minutes) is just $35 plus tax!

Hours are seasonal from April 1 to October 31, Daily 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and you can make reservations if you want to ride in the cool of the day before it heats up at 9:30 a.m., otherwise after that rides are first come first serve (keep that in mind if you visit on a weekend).
