Since update to the latest version, my computer is slowing down substantially. Especially when I open Outlook or open a browser (Firefox or Chrome), the power usage would jump to as very high and the CPU would be up to 60%. Generally the CPU would be around 30% or 40% when I did not have anything open or running.
Try to find which application running in the OS background environment. such as the application running in system boot automatically. A idea could use to search the application. Sort the CPU usage from high to low, and then post the screenshot here.
Same problem. Kaspersky Lab launcher 30% CPU usage. Try switching it off and on again. So go to KIS settings, click on File Anti-Virus, make sure Security level is Optimal, turn File Anti-Virus off, save, confirm. You will receive warning notifications. Turn File Anti-Virus back on, save, confirm. Kaspersky Lab launcher should now be using 0 to 0.4% CPU usage.
Just went through the ordeal described on the microsoft page. Yes, finally found the culprits. It was not Kaspersky...I recommend to reserve 2 h or so, since you will go through frequent reboots. I had a scribble block next to me to note down which parts I disabled and what the RAM / CPU usage was after each step. Because after a few changes you turn mad ;-)
But in the end I was able to bring down RAM from 7.3 GB usage to 4.2 GB. Main memory eater was Docker Desktop which I only need from time to time but which after an update was configured to fire up each time Wnidows starts.
And also as a hint, even if I disable EVERYTHING according to the MS article I still have a MEM usage of 3.4 GB. So, at least on my computer (Lenovo Yoga C930 with 12 GB RAM and WIN10) the stories from people saying 2 GB is all that WIN and the basic services occupy is simply not applicable.
Hint #2: I also could not believe that the total of all programs / services listed in the MS resource monitor should amount up to the total RAM usage listed. But I sat down finally with a calculator and it is really adding up to this. So, no hidden VM mem eaters or whatever some people claim that there is in the dark shadows of your MS system ;-)
to add: CPU usage is high after system start, but then in all configurations leveled down to 1 - 4% after 60-90 sec after I saw my WIN desktop, no matter what system configuration I chose. After disabling all unnecessary crap, I finally arrived at 1%.
I figured to uninstall Kaspersky Total Security and remove the Kaspersky Extension from Google Chrome and guess what? From 20% ++ CPU usage, it decreased to 1.1 - 1.5%. My fan noise is not noisy as when Kaspersky was installed. The temperature is slightly better now.
@trungleduc Glad to recieve this reply, thanks. I already tried this and create a path named jupyter_app_launcher under the directory of jupyter data path, then created a jp_app_launcher_my_extension.yaml , customized my conten into this yaml file and it displays ok. But what confuses me is why neither compilation nor direct installation can display the samples contained in code.(jupyter_app_launcher/samples at v0.1.7 trungleduc/jupyter_app_launcher GitHub). In the installation or compilation progress , does it copy this yaml file to data path?
What do you think about adding functionality similar to jupyter-app-launcher into JupyterLab core say for 4.2. or 4.3? It seems like customization of the laucher seems like a common use case. In lab we could have a just a list of settings for it.
if we talk about the epic launcher, there is no other app in this world that behaves worse than this. switching between tabs and menus takes ages. is incredible how bad it is and still no changes years later.
Hello - our ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 deployment has started asking users to log in when they access apps from the app launcher - so if a user is logged into the Portal, and then goes to access Dashboards, Field Maps, Experience Builder etc through the app launcher, they are challenged for their credentials again.
If your deployment is on Windows, have you installed the Web Adaptor Reliability Patch? One of the issues addressed in the patch is related to cookies and sounds similar to the behavior you are seeing.
Every time a new tab was opened within an existing browser session, you would be prompted to sign in again regardless of user type or choice of web browser. This includes apps in App Launcher as they open in a new tab.
Further investigation found that logins weren't persisting over new tabs only when using the load balancer Portal URL, but login sessions would persist over a new tab when using port 7443 Portal URLs.
We're actually working with two separate clients with very similar deployment patterns - and we noticed this actually happened to both.. (we're still in build mode for both - not in prod yet). What had we done or changed that had actually been done for both clients?
So whatever this is doing (as I said not technical person!) is causing us to be prompted again. We have unchecked the box on test environment to test, and the usual expected behaviour of not being prompted again is back. So, this will end up being a conversation with our client about their preference - security or user experience!
Another pivotal stride was made by the Autonomous Multi-domain Launcher as the combined team of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center and the Ground Vehicle Systems Center conducted a successful live fire of a Reduced Range Practice Rocket fired from the AML at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona.
AML is an initiative to develop and demonstrate an autonomous, unmanned, highly mobile, C-130 transportable launcher. The prototype launcher will be capable of convoy operations, autonomous way point navigation, tele-operation and remote launcher turret and fire control operation. It will also launch longer munitions while remaining compatible with the current munitions.
One of the primary goals of AML is providing fires forces with additional launcher platforms to mass fire with minimal impact on force structure manning. AML will also give the Army a three-times increase in fire power and magazine depth.

The Bechtel team is working from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, to bring the mobile launcher from design to liftoff by providing project management, architectural and engineering design, technical integration, fabrication, construction, testing, commissioning, and quality control services.
NASA has entrusted Bechtel to deliver critical infrastructure that is needed for the most important human space missions of this century. We are proud to progress the Artemis mission in its pursuit to return to the Moon, and further to Mars.
Not only is the Bechtel engineering team designing the structure that will operate as a launch platform for the SLS Rocket, but this same structure will also support multiple systems before launch, including power, communications, coolant, fuel, and stabilization for the rocket during the launch sequence.
Materials used to assemble the mobile launcher have been sourced from more than 30 states, including steel trusses that have travelled from Iowa, Kansas, Utah, Louisiana, and South Carolina to the Construction Parksite in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Additionally, the mission to build the mobile launcher includes global support from suppliers in Brazil and Spain.
Our Bechtel team is at its best when we partner with the local communities that we operate in. This includes engaging small and medium-sized businesses and giving back to the cities where we work and live. At ML2, Bechtel colleagues are connecting with the local Brevard County community.
I'm using both JMP v11 and v12 and my JMP default launcher is v12. Recently I have an add-in which is only available for JMP v11. However, when I installed the add-in, it automatically launched JMP v12 instead of JMPv11. Would you please share how to switch the default launcher from JMPv12 to v11 and backwards?
On the Mac the operating system handles this based on which application was installed last. If you've installed both JMP 11 and JMP 12 you'll need to reinstall JMP 11 in order to make that the default application.
We developed our Helix ORSC engine in-house and used low-cost stainless steel with other industrial components from the automotive, oil and energy industries to construct our launcher. The cherry on top of our launcher is our unique OTV called Redshift.

By default, a fresh installation of Posit Workbench comes with the Job Launcher and the Local Plugin enabled. No additional configuration is necessary to enable the use of Launcher Sessions or Workbench Jobs with the Local Plugin. If you wish to enable another Launcher Plugin to integrate with a container orchestration system (e.g., Kubernetes) or a batch processing system (e.g., Slurm), configuration changes will be necessary. Additionally, if you wish to enable load balancing for your Posit Workbench installation there will be some extra configuration considerations. See the Launcher Considerations section of the Load Balancing chapter for more information.
