I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 from windows 7 I was aware that dell uses a Injected Product code/activation from when I did a clean install a few months back when upgrading hardware so did some checking before processing the upgrade as I thought this may of been an issue, Luckily most info stated that as long as I upgraded it would provide me with a relevant updated product key for Windows 10 so I upgraded using the media creation tool with the upgrade option my Win 7 install was fully activated and updated but when doing the standard run though I found that Windows 10 had not activated and I was unable to change personal settings,

I then reverted to Windows 7 to check activation and all was activated and fine. I then re-upgraded to win 10 this time using the windows update option just in case this helped Still not activated, so I have spoke to Microsoft again and now they are saying that its dell's fault and speak to yourselves (see attached Image) as its your product code that is blocked.

Background : My XPS 12 Ultrabook was on Win 8.1 Pro (Activated). When i received a notification on my taskbar that Windows 10 is ready for installation, I clicked on it and started the installation. During installation, it prompted for "product key" and i clicked "skip" as there wasn't any Windows CD/DVD with product key on it when i purchased the Ultrabook. After upgrading everything was ok but windows not activated. (Error code: 0xC004C003)

Tried again re downloaded files and started the process this time the laptop just restarted and returned to windows 7 now every time it would just restart to windows, you couldn't do anything but restart it wouldn't let you check for updates or cancel.

I Tried using Microsoft update reset but still didn't fix after that I deleted all updates and hidden windows install files re used the windows update fix tool at this point it managed to allow me to re download and install windows 10

have you ever installed the ISO from the evaluation center? then you know that it is pre-pidded (eg: is has a product key factory installed that can be activated for an unlimited amount of times but it only activated windows for 90 days and then the installation is expired

@HotCakeX This exact same behaviour happens to me. For posterity, I am a fully licensed Windows 10 user with a copy of Windows 10 Professional. I use the Evaluation version to build test machines in Hyper-V that I use for blogging. Since 2015, I have been able to rearm each Windows 10 evaluation version twice and then rebuild them once the evaluation expires. As I am constantly running tests this model works perfectly - these are not production machines and are regularly rebuilt.

If you reinstall Windows 11 after you make a significant hardware change to your PC (such as replacing the motherboard), it may no longer be activated. You can use the Activation troubleshooter to reactivate Windows. For more info, see Using the Activation troubleshooter.

In this blog, you can explore how to install this fully activated SAP S/4H appliance in Azure. At the end of this blog, you will be able to successfully install the fully configured SAP S/4HANA 1909 SPS02 Fully Activated Appliance in Azure.

In this phase, we will install the SAP system from fully activated appliance, and then rename the SID and host name to our desired names. Please note, both sap application and database layers are installed on the same VM.

So to answer your question: Yes, Windows will let you return to the old HDD and still be fully activated. Take it like your HDD failed and you bought a new hard drive, you wouldn't have to buy a new license.

@EG I had already set up an appointment for a technician to come to my home to activate my gateway when you posted your message. A techician called me to set it up remotely this morning rather than appear for that appointment which worked out successfully.

Microsoft 365 Apps communicates with the Office Licensing Service and the Activation and Validation Service to obtain and activate a product key. Each day, or each time the user signs in their computer, the computer connects to the Activation and Validation Service to verify the license status and extend the product key. As long as the computer can connect to the internet at least once every 30 days, Microsoft 365 Apps remains fully functional. If the computer goes offline for more than 30 days, Microsoft 365 Apps enters reduced functionality mode until the next time a connection can be made. To get Microsoft 365 Apps fully functional again, the user can connect to the internet and let the Activation and Validation Service reactivate the installation, though in some cases the user might have to sign back in first.

If a user installs Microsoft 365 Apps on more than 10 devices, then the device that wasn't used for the longest amount of time is automatically deactivated. Microsoft 365 Apps goes into reduced functionality mode on the deactivated device.

Users can install Microsoft 365 Apps on a new device without being prompted to deactivate it on another device. If a user has more than 10 devices with Microsoft 365 Apps activated, then the device that wasn't for the longest amount of time is automatically deactivated.

I am starting a set of Windows 2019 servers, XenApp 1903, Office 365 Pro Plus w/shared activation - thinking MS & Citrix had gotten this figured out by now...but alas, running into an issue in seamless mode where you sign in to O365 when it asks, but the next pwd popup screen is a ghost window I cannot pick. This works fine in full desktop, just not seamless. I am pretty sure MS still allows us to purchase a single Vol license of 2019 when we are fully licensed for O365 for each user and that has been the plan to get away from this problem - but I really wanted this to work as also heard MS moved the token to 30 days now which makes this doable. Besides, 2019 being the last Vol license version to be released, we will eventually have no choice.

I just spent a few weeks on this issue. I know this is an old thread, but I'll post what I found here to hopefully help people. First off, Microsoft does not recommend disabling ADAL or WAM to fix this issue. REF: -us/office365/troubleshoot/administration/disabling-adal-wam-not-recommended. For those of you posting that as a solution, it's incorrect!

Launch an Office app from XenApp, get prompted to sign in then the blank white box where the password prompt should be. RDP to the VDA then SSO works and Office 365 is activated automatically, no sign in required. Then launch an Office app with the same user on the same VDA via XenApp it retains the activation in the local profile.

For comparison I built a Server 2016 VM with the same VDA and Office versions, same OU/GPOs and the same test user account. When launched via XenApp, Office 365 is automatically activated by SSO as it ought to be.

I manage a test network consisting in a dozen windows server (mostly 2008r2). All the servers use MAK keys (from MSDN or technet). I have recently decided to start using Volume Activation Management Tool 2.0 instead of putting keys manually on each server, but I have run into a catch.

The server on which VAMT 2.0 is installed is a fully activated Windows 2008 R2 (therefore x64). It has full connectivity to the Internet without any proxies, but with a NAT box (with all outbound traffic allowed). It is a virtual machine running on Hyper-V. It is fully patched. It is member of a domain. An installation of VAMT on another 2008r2 VM (same domain) changed nothing, nor dit it on a Windows 7 x64 physical box (no domain, same natbox for internet connection).

Anything free is cool, but getting a fully upgraded operating system for the great price of nothing is downright awesome. A recent exploit was uncovered that allows users to get a free copy of Windows 8 Pro directly from Microsoft's own website. Seriously.

Built for enterprise users, the KMS is intended to make deployment of Windows 8 through a KMS host and KMS client, making Windows 8 fully usable for 180 days before activation. In other words, instead of being required to input an activation key or reach Microsoft authentication channels on each individual computer, businesses can activate Windows copies on a local network and make the transition step-by-step.

Now, using this little workaround, people can swap KMS Client Setup Keys (like the ones listed on Microsoft's site) to snag a fully activated free copy of Windows 8 Pro using the Pro Pack upgrade key.

Product activation is a license validation procedure required by some proprietary software programs. Product activation prevents unlimited free use of copied or replicated software. Unactivated software refuses to fully function until it determines whether it is authorized to fully function. Activation allows the software to stop blocking its use. An activation can last "forever", or it can have a time limit, requiring a renewal or re-activation for continued use.
