Onmy Origin account, it says I have all of my expansion packs intalled and ready to go. HOWEVER, when the Sims launcher opens, the medallions at the bottom that highlight when you have installed expansions are not highlighted for two of the expansions I have installed: University Life and Seasons. No matter what I do, I can't play with them and when I click "Play" on them, the launcher opens up but the expansions aren't present there OR in game play.
When you uninstall TS3 games on your Mac using the uninstaller, the game leaves behind stray files and isn't completely removed from your computer. These files may conflict with future installations. It is best to completely remove them. BluebellFlora's website provides a guide on how to do this:
-sims-3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac/
After cleanly uninstalling, install the base game and patch it up to date. If you cannot update via the Launcher, download and apply the latest cumulative manual patch (called the superpatch) for Mac.
Check that your game works properly. Then install any EPs and SPs that you own, in order of release date.
Please start a new thread and describe your PC specs and the issue you are having. Then one of the PC helpers will try to answer your questions. Posting in a thread tagged for Mac is likely to mean that the PC helpers overlook your query.
I use to play the sims 4 a ton on this PC through Origin, after a few months of not playing I had played it on Steam before refunding it. Now I'm trying to play on Origin again. It said to Install it even though It's already installed. When I click the install button it goes through the process then says Install again. I've uninstalled and Reinstalled Origin, the Sims 4, and everything else in between. I've ran CC Cleaner, cleared my Origin Cache, and restarted my computer. Nothing seems to fix it. I literally cannot play the Sims 4, when I open the .exe from the installed files it opens Origin and says that it's not downloaded, even though I literally have all the files! What am I to do???
I knew I shouldn't have added that as I knew it'd confuse those who don't read properly. Obviously there's two separate downloads. Hints why I made sure to mention that it was working on Origin PRIOR to running it on Steam. I never said steam was the reason this happened, only wanted to mention that on the off chance that was information that was needed as it did work on steam. I got a refund on steam, and then after months of not using the Origin Version I tried to use said origin version and it didn't work.
Check your Windows for any system updates, as well as check your Graphics card for any updates. Reset your entire Cache "Open up windows explored, and type %ProgramData%/Origin and delete everything (I deleted literally everything)" Uninstall Sims 4 and Origin, Restart your computer, download all of it anew and it worked.
So, I'd like to give a special shout out to me for doing what apparently no staff member has been able to do from the countless help requests I've seen. Pat on the back me, thank you me, and I especially appreciate myself for taking the time to properly read my forum post and answering the answer on exactly what was needed to fix the issue that apparently so many others have had issues with.
@Xyphien EA Origin and Steam are two different providers and install the game differently. Origijn is the DRM for this game and has to b eactivated by Origin to play/ You can not (well you can) go between Steam and Origin as they use the same user data folder. If you use Origin - Origin will open when you start the game if it isn't running at boot. If you use Steam you have to link to Origin somehow - I think the first time you start the Steam version it will ask you. Origin is looking in the Origin folder for the the core files. Unintstall the Steam version - run ccleaner - and run the Origin install.
When I click on Sims 3 to play it, it opens and tells me there has been an error and i need to install Origin to play, and if Origin is already installed i need to contact support, since Origin is already installed i decided to ask.. What do i do??? Also, this isn't the account i use for Origin, i signed in using the wrong email. my user name is Rodfet9
Ensure that your Firewall and/or Antivirus are not blocking the connection. The easiest way would be adding an exception for the Origin Client. You need to do this add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports -issues-with-origin/#1
I didn't have an antivirus when I first posted but now I have installed Norton... I'll add it but its not the problem since I didn't have it untill now... but now that I have Norton I get the old message and I get a different message sometimes saying "There was an error during startup. Please see the log for more details."
Help!! I recently installed Windows 10 so had everything backed up onto external hard drive. Have tried various suggestions of how to reinstall the game from these files without having to redownload. Can someone help me clear this up? Our internet speed is so slow so between TS4 and all the expansions it could take a week to redownload! Please help if u can
@Annarubanana There are a couple of routes you can take. Do you want the game's program files to stay on your external hard drive? If so, you can open your Origin library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Locate Game, and navigate to the folder where the files are. It's a good idea to repair the game (right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Repair) when you're done.
If you want the game back on your internal drive, you can Locate Game and then Move Game once Origin has verified the current location. Again, right-click, select Move Game, and choose the folder where you want the game to be.
Origin sometimes crashes these days when asked to locate a game. You can try moving the Sims 4 program files to a different folder on your external drive to see whether it helps. Or you can clear Origin's cache and restart.
If none of the above works, clear Origin's cache and restart again, then go into Origin and select the default location for Origin games: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then under the Installs & Saves header, use Change folder under "Game library location" to choose where you want the game to be. Start the download and immediately pause it. Then copy all the game's program files to the folder where Origin is supposed to install them. Resume the download, and Origin should merely verify the presence of the files instead of redownloading everything.
@puzzlezaddictHey! Thanks for your response. Had tried all of these before but they didn't seem to make a difference and the game started downloading as if from scratch. So I've just starting downloading it as normal, it's taking a while, but it's to be expected Should hopefully be done by this evening.
@Annarubanana Too bad that didn't work. And yes, you can try manually copying the pack folders from your external drive to the new Sims 4 install. Try one at a time, then tell Origin to repair, and see what happens. The pack folders that matter are the ones labeled EPxx, GPxx, and SPxx that sit directly inside the Sims 4 folder in Origin Games.
This isn't going to help you now as it's been a year, but in case anyone else runs into the issue. I have sims 4 downloaded through steam, but wanted to be able to open it directly from the launcher, but since it's been downloaded through steam, it is not able to find the games and wants to download again. (My game/EPs are all purchased through origin, but I'm having an issue with receiving the free content for cottage living so I want to see if I have to open it through origin launcher directly)
Stop the download, click the cogwheel under 'install' and click locate game. You want to choose the folder 'The Sims 4' not the individual files. Inside that folder will be EP01+, GP01+, SP01+, etc, but you will only select the containing folder with the name 'The Sims 4' Once you've selected it, the system will take a little bit to check the file integrities and will check all expansion packs as well.
MiniTool OEM program enable partners like hardware / software vendors and relative technical service providers to embed MiniTool software with their own products to add value to their products or services and expand their market.
The software client of the platform can be used for personal computers and mobile platforms. And many PC gamers have installed the Origin client on their PC and play games on it. However, with more and more games downloaded and installed on their hard drive, they are gradually running out of disk space.
Step 7. Navigate to the previously selected Origin game installation folder. The default location could be C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games. Right click on the folder of the game that you want to move, and then select Cut from the menu.
