I spend most of my time on a PC; desktop, laptop or tablet. Seldom use Spotify on my phone. I have used the Rainmeter skins program to provide player control for years. Spotify has developed a plugin for Rainmeter that has finally allowed me to use Spotify on my PC's which I have become very fond of doing. But the latest update has rendered all of the skins useless with Spotify. No fix has been forthcoming and no one knows if it will, so I am abandoning Spotify and returning to my Groove player which has a mini-player option. Rainmeter has a pretty large audience and I'm sure most are Spotify customers, but don't spend much time on this site, as it is clearly focused on Spotify program issues and development, as expected. But I've been unable to find a method to contact directly Spotify support to address the plugin issue, so am asking if anyone has inside knowledge of what the possibility is of a solution. Thx!
I have had the same issue with my rainmeter Spotify player. I am unable to skip through songs or pause. It does show the album cover of the song currently playing, but obviously panning through the songs is a huge perk of having the player in the first place. If anyone knows of any solutions to this, I'm sure OP and I would be very greatful to hear them.
I have the same problem. I've been using the same Rainmeter plugin for years, haven't had a single problem until this last update. We would all really appreciate it if someone from Spotify could weigh in on this.
I ended up having to install a different version of rainmeter, boot the skin, and then update the software. It seemed like a very odd way to get around the problem, but I did eventually get it working. I tried the reddit suggestion from @OuroborosM3x and it seemed to work as well (so thanks for that)!
Whenever I want to install Rainmeter Skins, Bitdefender will come screaming at me to stop and then start deleting all the skins I have installed. This is really annoying as Rainmeter is a nice application I use to personalize my desktop. It drops a dll file into the temp files folder and Bitdefender also detects that as malicious when it's not. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
To better understand which module of the Bitdefender program detects the malware, please here in a comment post a screenshot of the notification(s) you get when Bitdefender detects the file as malicious and blocks it.
That being said: while you can edit skins using Windows' built-in text editor, Notepad, we strongly recommend downloading an enhanced text editor, such as Notepad++ or Sublime Text. These applications come with powerful features like tabs, auto-completion, embedded file browsers and more. You can even download extensions that add Rainmeter-specific code highlighting, which makes it much faster and easier to read a skin's code and spot errors.
Depending on the kind of skin you want to make, you may also want to find a good piece of image editing software. Rainmeter can create text by itself, as well as simple or complex vector shapes, like rectangles and circles. But you will find you often want a separately-created image file.
A skin can grow to become an enormously complex project by the time it's done. It may accumulate any number of images, icons, fonts, plugins, addons, scripts, and even included code that is strewn across multiple files and shared by other skins.
Each skin also has a root config folder. This refers to the one folder that contains all of the skins belonging to a "suite," such as illustro. When the skins in a suite are organized together in this way, they can be exported to a package, and then installed on another system, as a single collection. They can also share fonts, images and other resources in a way that separate skins cannot. For a simple skin that is not part of such a "suite," the config and root config are the same.
Creating a new skin is quite easy. In Manage, click the "Create new skin" button. This will create a new config folder in the skins list, offering a default starting name of "NewSkin". Name this folder "MyFirstSkin" and hit enter.
This will do several things. It will create a new root config folder with the name "MyFirstSkin". In it it will create an empty @Resources folder, will create a new basic MyFirstSkin.ini skin file, and will open this new skin in your default or defined text editor, so you are off and running.
The very first thing you will see in your skin is the [Rainmeter] section. This is a skin's "header" property, like the tag in an HTML webpage. In the [Rainmeter] section, you will see an Update=1000 option. Like this:
The Update option is what sets the length of the skin's update cycle. The length is given in milliseconds, or 1/1000ths of a second, so Update=1000 means that the skin will update once per second. Updating is how the skin will react to changes in information. You'll see how this works in more detail later on.
Believe it or not, what you have now is a complete, valid, working Rainmeter skin! Let's load it to see what it looks like. Load the skin using one of the methods that you learned before. You can either:
Congratulations! You have just created a new skin. You are now ready to move on to the Basic Tutorials. This series will guide you through the entire process of creating several example skins, while teaching you about the fundamental elements of a Rainmeter skin.
Rainmeter modular nature allows one to consider every module as a template for personal modifications and you can work with several modules from different skins to build your own style, which might be the real shit for any experienced tweaker like me and some other ppl. So just stop complaining and let beginners have some fun.

You see the skin is far from finished.
It works only with one user and still contains some bugs.
But a user is better than no user
and that's why this early release.
Unfortunately, at the moment I'm very busy in my job so I can not continue working on the skin for a few weeks.
Until then, I hope that you like it and I get some constructive suggestions from you.
If someone should work on the skin so I ask that he shares it with us.
Until then

It looks really nice, but I'm struggling to get it connected to my Server. When I pull up the Option window (where it has IP, Port, API Key), I can't seem to edit any of the fields. I'll type in something new, hit enter, and then it just reverts back to the default that's already populated. I'm new to Rainmeter in general, but am I doing something wrong here?
Nice app! Thanks for sharing! I will need to look into how to make the user details section a bright green like the header is. I find it hard to see the details because it fades into the background. I'm sure that I can figure that out but if anyone wants to save me the trouble of learning yet another thing... feel free to share that knowledge.
Correct. It looks like it has the same transparency as the window frame. It would be great if there was an option to have the text not transparent, much like with the flyout. With the flyout, the window frame is transparent but the text is not. Thanks again for the app and your time!
This kicks a** - I love it - now i can take a look at the users and what is being used - I LOVE this - Had to read the post more that one time, but I got it and it wasn't all that hard to do - NICE job .. props to you my friend.
Got it working on another computer, with no problems, after your help. Great idea having a way to keep an eye out on the server. Not only to see what people are watching but to make sure the server is up and running ok..
I've updated and all seem to be working well, but initially the Series & Media were not populating. Well, I should say they were for about 1 second, then it would disappear. This would happen a 2-3 times and then not appear again. I did a bit of troubleshooting, and found if I comment out 'IfMatchMode=1' line in the SessionsX.inc files it would work fine. I'm not sure what impact this has, as I don't understand the code very well, but seems everything is working so far. I've made a slight change to comment out the background images for the main windows etc to match my other transparent Rainmeter skins but other than that it is default.
There are a couple of errors being returned in Rainmeter logs to report back; mainly one when MeasureSeriesName01, MeasurePlayingItem01, MeasureEpisodeNo01 and a few others, when nothing is playing(?) they are returning error 'RegExp matching error (-1)'. There is also another error being returned I have just noticed '!CommandMeasure: [ParseSessions05] not found'. Could that be because I have only 4 connected users showing in the skin? Any help to stop the errors would be most appreciated
You are right that it occurs with Rainmeter regex error occur when no video is played. I have to get to the bottom of the matter.
(Such errors are intercepted with Rainmeter and have no influence on the further program sequence at Rainmeter)
Most of your suggestions can be implemented.
Let me play a bit with it (possibly as an option)
There are only two small problems.
- I will be back home in November and I can only take care of it. (I am working abroad)
- I have to install a very old version of Emby since the swagger-ui does not work anymore and that for months. It also does not look like this changes. Very sad.
Unfortunately, it will take a while before I can take care of it.
Until then
