Typically studios are sensible enough not to give the really challenging shots to new matchmovers on their first shot. Also most big feature films have markers, survey, lidar, witness cams, zoom encoders, camera notes, lens grids and a multitude of other information to help solve shots.
I'm a seasoned camera tracker/matchmover with 10 years of experience in the VFX industry. Over the years, I've worked on translating 2D image sequences into 3D scenes, tracking moving objects, and creating 3D reconstructions for commercial, film, and tv projects. I've become increasingly intrigued by the applications of AI in areas such as 3D reconstruction, depth estimation, and object tracking. I believe there's an exciting intersection between traditional matchmoving techniques and emerging AI-driven processes.
