I got my inspiron 5676 a while ago, but I'm looking into upgrading the power supply so I can add a more powerful graphics card. The only problem with that is there is a plastic shroud over where the power supply is, and theres a small hole for the power plug. Obviously this works fine with the stock 460w power supply, but wont with almost every retail power supply. Has anyone upgraded their PSU in an Inspiron 5675/5676/5680 and the power supply without having to break the shroud on the back?

I was looking through the service manual, and apparently the rear cover is removable. I could just take out the entire huge piece of plastic on the back that covers up the i/o, fan, expansion slots and most importantly the psu.

I would just need to take out the side panels, top panel and psu screws, then take out the rear cover and put the rest back. That way I wont need to cut into plastic, and more importantly wont void my remaining 5 month warranty. There is metal underneath the entire plastic shroud, so everything should still stay in place.

i temporarily removed the side panels and top panel just to take out the rear panel because thats how you remove the rear panel. I ended up trying it and it seemed to work, no problems with the pc, and now i can use any decent psu with it. only problem is that it doesnt look good cosmetically, as the metal is just a boring silver compared to the rest of the case being grey, but no one looks at the back of the case anyway. I might consider putting the plastic rear back on and cut off a lil of it, but not until the warranty expires.

after the recent update to windows 11 everything were good. but i was prompted for small small updates afterwards too. after the small update has been done the keys on laptop mainly B,N, Arrow Left-right-down were not working. I tried restarting the laptop several time but failed to solve the problem. after few hours it started working again. my laptop is dell inspiron which is in very fine condition. not a scratch or a dent. its purely a bug issue. I am a software developer i need my laptop for work. please fix these issues. ASAP

It seems like this option was automatically switched on after updating to Windows 11. The irony of having to turn off an "optimization" feature so that my machine works correctly.....I don't even use this computer to game!

Some while after I updated to Windows 11, I started noticing a problem with some keys in one area of the keyboard not responding well to key-clicks. I would sometimes have to click them more than once. I assumed this was due to dust under the keys, and so fished tiny dust bunnies out with a bit of paper (hoping that was gentle enough not to damage the keys).

I got one of those little keyboard vacuums, but they don't have enough suction to pull out compacted dust bunnies, just loose dust. I was tempted to (carefully!) use my real vacuum. In any case, cleaning did not help.

I noticed an odd thing, though. If I held one of these keys down for several seconds, it would actuate once, then pause for a second, then begin repeating. That made me suspicious that this was not just due to dust under the keys, but rather that something had noticed the repeated clicking, and had turned on some sort of anti-key-bounce setting.

So I went looking for anyone else with this issue, and came across this post. Yes, "game mode" was turned on. I turned that off, and immediately, the multiple second pause before a key click registered was gone. Now it's back to the original "dirty keys" state. This is much better than no response!

I installed Windows 11 on my business computer. Seemed OK. Then the mouse left click and scroll started having problems. The scroll and click would work for a bit here and there, but I couldn't long click at all and could only scroll down a few lines. Same for the touch pad. Then the shift key and ctrl key stopped working randomly. Sometimes it would let me type 1 letter in caps, but it was random. Very difficult to reproduce to find a pattern. I popped off a key thinking maybe there was a crumb under it, but it was clean, and the problem kept getting worse. I resorted to using an external keyboard instead of my laptop keyboard, but it was buggy too.

Yes, there are driver problems since upgrading to Windows 11, but the mouse and keyboard drivers wouldn't update and uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. (Still trying to fix some of those driver issues for other devices.)

I'm so grateful that you shared your experience with this. I did the same as you, cleaning the keyboard, with no success, and I was starting to wonder if I needed to tear apart my laptop and replace the keyboard or some control board. Happy I didn't have to do that.

Update: Game Mode is off for all users but the problem started back up again after using the laptop for just a few hours. I went back to Windows 10. So far that has fixed it along with all of my driver issues., so clearly this is a software issue related to Windows, not a hardware issue. Hoping this doesn't happen again. Super frustrating.

Tank you for te solution, but Im not sure wic update caused te problem. As you can see, some of my keys are still not workin. Letters 7 & 8 in alpabet, primarily. 0 & 1 in numeric keypad, quote key, left Alt, up arrow key, sometimes Esc key.
