Juststeps from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the most iconic and celebrated venue in motorsports, the new facility will house space for classrooms, hands-on training and diagnostic testing for Boilermaker students studying in the only ABET-accredited motorsports engineering undergraduate program in the country. Many Purdue graduates from the program in Indianapolis have gone on to careers with motorsports manufacturers like Dallara, as well as in series such as IndyCar, the International Motorsports Association (IMSA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), many of which have teams headquartered in central Indiana.
Created in 2008, the motorsports engineering program in Indianapolis is one of a kind in preparing Purdue students to pursue motorsports careers in the heart of the racing capital of the world. Boilermaker students build an all-encompassing understanding of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, systems engineering, performance engineering and design, applying their proficiency to find real-world solutions. The curriculum is created with direct insight from industry professionals guiding the program to assist in the development of the technical skill required by the industry.
Besides its motorsports efforts on the track, Dallara has focused on the classroom, led by its Dallara Academy in Italy. The facility is filled with educational labs for schools, dedicated space for university studies, and an auditorium for conferences and meetings. Students get to experience the laws of physics that are applied in the design and development of race cars and get involved in activities inspired by design and production, with particular attention to the use of composite materials, aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics.
Whether your passion is Racing or the Custom Car/Aftermarket Industry, the Motorsports Vehicle Technology Program is a great way to get the skills you need to launch your career. Looking for an exciting career in the Motorsports Industry in Road Racing (IMSA, SCCA, NASA), Circle track (NASCAR, ARCA), Drag Racing (NHRA), drifting, or other professional motorsports series? Then, you are in the right place!
Our program offers a blend of hands-on, trackside, and classroom training which prepares students to work in the challenging and rewarding fields of the Motorsport Industry. Our Instructors come directly from the Motorsports Industry and in our labs and classrooms, students learn all facets of racecar development including suspension design and set-up, how to use fabrication equipment, MIG and TIG welding, how to use a lathe and mill, Composites (Carbon Fiber, Kevlar and Fiberglass) mold making and part lay-up, engine building and tuning, transmission/transaxle and differential builds, general racecar repairs, testing procedures, racecar electronics, data acquisition, trackside procedures, and many other industry protocols.

On July 27, 2022, the Congressional Motorsports Caucus was pleased to host another successful virtual briefing between members of Congress and representatives of the National Motorsports Coalition. The Caucus was updated on the latest news from the motorsports industry including the positive impact of motorsports on our economy and issues being debated before Congress such as the Motorsports Fairness and Permanency Act.
This informal, bi-partisan Congressional Caucus (CAPMC) would support and encourage the growth of American small businesses and manufacturing. The Caucus would not seek to gain a consensus on legislative issues. Rather, it is intended to be a means by which its members can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of small business as a critical component in our economy.View the Photo Gallery
