McAllister dreamed up this idea when she was retiring from her position as the first Buddhist chaplain in the Missouri correctional system, because people kept coming to her worried sick about finding a job when they got out. More than 20 employees have come through since the bakery opened, and many have gone on to full-time jobs with benefits.
Home-based baker Blair Fornshell and her fiancé, Chaske Haberkos, jointly own the bakery. Fornshell is the founder, head baker and creative force, while Haberkos handles marketing, communication and even delivery.
Fornshell said the shop will prominently feature pies: While the bakery will offer a wide range of treats, including a rotational seasonal offering, expect all manner of pies, including an assortment of cream pies, chess pies and a variety of fruit pies.
Big Bear was a grocery store chain in Ohio and West Virgina that closed in the early 2000s. A former bakery employee shared these recently so I thought I'd share. These need scaled down but I don't know by how much.
