I'm writing to you to extend an invitation. Every Thursday in October,
a couple of co-horts and I are trying something really experimental
and we want you to be a part of it.
Namely, we're launching a regular Steampunk/Electro Swing club that
we're calling Alt. Dance (http://www.facebook.com/groups/alt.dance/).
We're patterning this event after the Goth/Industrial clubs of the
80's/90's where two different cultures came together to share their
love of a similar, if not common aesthetic and to get away from the
more mundane world.
Because we think it's something that has to be seen to be fully
understood and because we'd like for you to be a part of it, we're
putting you on our guest list with a +1 for our Grand Opening on
October 20th. However, that doesn't mean you should wait until then to
join us. Please feel free to stop by one of our nights earlier in the
month. Including our opening night on October 6th and our "Electric
Blues" night on October 13th, where we'll have a guest DJ and dance
instructor from the blues scene.
Alt. Dance is being put on by Swing Goth, a club which has been a part
of San Francisco for well over 4 years. However, it is designed to be
more like our weekend events, where partner dancing is supported, but
not required. We have chosen DanzHaus - aka The Gingerbread House
(http://www.facebook.com/pages/DanzHaus-The-Gingerbread-House/155131077863850)
as the venue because of it's flexibility and accessibility as a
destination location. It is in a very safe part of the city, blocks
from both 280 and 101. It is just a quarter of a block off of Caesar
Chavez, a major traffic corridor that has plenty of parking, is about
200 paces from a 19 busstop and is surrounded by a taxi depot, and
other warehouses that are staffed 24 hours a day.
As this is a Grand Opening, we will have party favors donated by our
friends at RE/Search and light refreshments, however we do hope that
you'll feel free to bring your own. We sincerely hope that you'll
accept our invitation to join us and that you'll invite your friends!
Sincerely,
Brian Gardner - Founder of Swing Goth
and
John Zane - Manager of DanzHaus
PS- If you think there's anyone else who should be included, please let us know.
